Light years ahead of Nicholls and Hendo on results. A Champion Hurdle, a Ryanair, a Chamopion Chase, the first two home in the Gold Cup, the first two in the National.
That’s what you call high class performances…. How can this be bettered?????
April 10, 2021 at 17:39 #1535678Well with that result he might well have just over taken Nicky Henderson. Probably still too far behind Nicholls now to make a really good challenge at the UK title
April 10, 2021 at 17:40 #1535680Mullins trained the Ryanair winner – but I take your point!!
April 10, 2021 at 17:40 #1535681He didn’t win the Ryanair.

April 10, 2021 at 17:41 #1535683Sorry Cork, you’re right about the Ryanair. But otherwise he has been very impressive and also selective with his runners. He just doesn’t run them for fun in G1 races.
April 10, 2021 at 17:43 #1535685Great training performance!
April 10, 2021 at 17:51 #1535693Aside from De Bromhead, I think we should recognise that Irish trainers are just better than their British counterparts.
Did Nigel Twiston Davies seriously believe that Bristol De Mai was going to be effective over this distance on this ground and under a big weight as well? Another one to add to his genius move of running Blaklion on hock deep ground at Haydock a few weeks before the National.
April 10, 2021 at 18:02 #1535701De Bromhead has made a believer of me admittedly. For years, all I thought about when I heard / read his name, was him running star stayer Sizing John over 2m for years studying Douvans arse.

I hope the Irish will send over some proper G1 chasers for the Betfair Chase. It can’t be that BDM wins it again and people start telling us how great he is just for winning a race that has turned out into a match over the past years.
April 10, 2021 at 18:23 #1535730What has BDM’s weight today got to do with anything? Routinely carries 11:10.

April 10, 2021 at 18:33 #1535737Bristol De Mai was actually one of the best handicapped UK horses in today’s race, Ruby… Yes, may be he’s at his very best at Haydock on softer going; but at least he got a flat left handed track. Better to go to Aintree than Cheltenham. The other thing he needs is to race prominently and there were just too many front / prominent runners in the field today / missed the start and sulked.
Value Is EverythingApril 10, 2021 at 18:51 #1535743Ginge, BDM is rated 169. This is enough for one race at Haydock in November. At other tracks he just runs at least a stone below his best. No way, he is well handicapped for a race like the National with so many potential improvers.
April 10, 2021 at 18:55 #1535745And no way was he going to run to that mark on today’s ground.
April 10, 2021 at 19:10 #1535749And A Plus Tard is reportedly being aimed at next season’s Betfair Chase, so BDM will have his work cut out.
