November 5, 2023 at 22:36 #1669513It’s been too long. Would be good to have her back in the paddock swiftly followed by the winner’s enclosure.
November 6, 2023 at 09:46 #1669536Genuine question with no agenda. Did any of those expensive horses she purchased on behalf of others do anything? It might be too early to judge most of them I guess.
November 6, 2023 at 11:48 #1669538Knight has been active at the sales in her role as racing manager to late owner Mike Grech, sourcing last season’s Irish National winner I Am Maximus and Grade 1 winner Brandy Love.
November 6, 2023 at 13:55 #1669550Thing is she probably would have still been training had Terry’s health not become her overriding concern before his passing – also, probably doing all the pre-training for others and seeing the horses walk out her stables and maybe (or maybe not) doing well and thinking ‘I could have done better myself’ may have played a part.
Interesting to note that in the research for her books she visited over 30 yards in England Scotland and Ireland and would have likely picked up pros and cons from them all and how she can apply that to her training.
I wish her all the best and just hope she gets sufficient enough and good backing as she has a wealth of knowledge waiting to be mined.
November 8, 2023 at 16:58 #1669770Brendan Powell will be assisting her , be interesting to see if she can still get a hold of the quality horses she did previously

November 9, 2023 at 22:16 #1669870I think that she’ll struggle to get her hands on anything like she had in her heyday, but I would be so happy to be wrong. Best Mate was obviously the flag bearer but I loved Edredon Bleu
November 9, 2023 at 23:11 #1669880It’s a tough ask to get a training career going again after a long break at age 76. But Henrietta Knight is a very capable woman, and it sounds as if she is going into it with realistic aspirations.
As LD73 says, all the research that she did for her book getting insights from many of the best trainers in the business looks a smart move now!
Good luck to her.
November 10, 2023 at 08:18 #1669896I always liked Hen and maybe she isn’t overly interested in the big time but wouldn’t turn it away should it happen.
The more I know the less I understand.

January 13, 2024 at 08:44 #1677100Some hold her responsible for the advent of the Grade 1 jumper cotton wool era in which we currently reside.
Best Mate was perhaps fragile, but for many it’s all been downhill since the myopic focus with him on the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 13, 2024 at 14:24 #1677182Had a wonderful stable visit at Henrietta Knight’s back in the day. Made us all feel very welcome. Best of luck to her on the comeback. However…
There was always excuses made about why Best Mate only saw the racecourse rarely.
At the time of Best Mate I remember looking up Hen’s record with all her runners.
It wasn’t much better with her other runners. Running them less often than the vast majority of trainers.Value Is Everything - AuthorPosts
