That was incredible.
To come back from his problems, the heavy fall at Aintree and put in that type of performance against some quality horses is a great achievement.
A fantastic training feat from Paul Nicholls and a perfect ride from Ruby.
He’ll be very hard to beat if maintaining that level of form, but there’s little chance of Ruby deserting Kauto in March.
The Tank is back and that can only be good for racing.
Best performance from a chaser for how long? Absolutely awesome Denman.

Absolutely brilliant.
Didn’t have a penny on the race, but i was cheering on Denman, it’s what the sport is all about. Jumped them to sleep, and a great ride from Ruby.
Awesome jumping from Denman, cut lengths out of the field at nearly every one of his fences, and kept on so bravely on the run in, brilliant performance.
Not suprised Paul Nicholls nearly had tears in the interview after the race, i nearly had a tear in my eye watching it, and i didn’t have a bet on the race, nor am i connected to the horse.
Fantastic performance.
Could there be a chance of McCoy riding Denman at Cheltenham, with Exotic Dancer unfortunately no longer with us? ? ?
Feel sorry for Ruby which does he choose Kauto or The Tank?
Lets hope they both get there and in top form then lets hope for the race of a lifetime.
The only way Ruby will be on Denman in the GC is if Kauto doesn’t attend the festival – god forbid.
Today’s performance by Denman was exceptional but giving weight to lesser horses doesn’t compare to beating Kauto Star at level weights, imo. That’s not knocking the performance as it was incredible but I don’t believe it would have won Denman the GC in March this year.
Likewise, I just hope Kauto and Demman make it to the festival fit, well and on top form… then the battle can commence!
Back to the horse of the hour – Denman, fantastic win today… welcome back!
If Denman keeps winning and Kauto lands his fourth consecutive King George it would appear that Ruby has a choice to make.
I doubt very much he will jump off his beloved Kauto. He absolutely adores the horse and he has the chance of riding an historic third Gold Cup on him and a possible King George / Gold Cup treble.
That’s something you would want to be a part of.
I’d go as far as saying that was Denman’s finest performance to date. They were quality horses he gave weight to and he all but slaughtered them. A bit worried that a few ran below par and only a handful were even sighted at the last. The ground was obviously very testing and most horses were finishing very tired in all races.
You simply can’t knock that performance. Stunning.
