VERY interesting, Ladbrokes online blocked my bet. The PopUp stated the amount was too big despite there being about 15 times sum involved sitting in my account
When I rung the bet through the telephonist had to refer the bet as one of the horses (or my account) was "Flagged"
They would only give me SP and the lady wouldn’t or couldn’t tell me which horse was causing the alarm
The three horses I’ve backed are
BOTHY
SERECINA
BANJAXED GIRL 3 EW Doubles EW TrebleOne of the three has spooked them
When I worked on Labdbrokes Trade phones, mid 1960s, we always had a list of punters (and the occasional horse) to refer
The horses often open up first show as "no offers" older members might recall this on opening showsFebruary 23, 2010 at 11:09 #278550You’ve got them running scared CS!
February 23, 2010 at 11:47 #278554It’s probably the 8/55 you’re stealing on Sericina that they object to CS. A slightly embarrassing thread.
February 23, 2010 at 11:48 #278555only made £198M on GB horse-racing last year, now know why.
February 23, 2010 at 12:13 #278559You can always try using their ‘Price Match Deal’, where they will gladly replace any out of stock horses with a substitute of a similar price.

I don’t suppose SP was too much of a worry in the end. Well done.
February 23, 2010 at 17:11 #278603The Banjaxed Girl race was hardly too friendly, either!

I don’t think "filthy each-way" is a term CS is familar with, Smithy!
February 23, 2010 at 17:16 #278606Clearly not, Rory. Nice pick up though!

Very funny! But if I’d had three places the EW would have let me live to fight another day
A slightly embarrassing thread.
3 out of 3 Embarrassing? Please explain????

Thanks
I’ve finnally climbed past the 1500 points profit mark that’s been such a milestone this season, puts me 1599.5 points in front
February 23, 2010 at 17:40 #278614Nice picks, but why back three short priced favourites each way?
February 23, 2010 at 17:45 #278617The fact that you found three winners is to be commended, as is the fact that you had the foresight to back them each way to guarantee that you’d make no loss in the very likely event that all were placed, even though some would sneer at such tactics. What’s slightly embarrassing (and only slightly) is that you weren’t aware that this type of betting is regularly restricted by all bookmakers, despite you being a self professed successful punter. It had nothing to do with any of your selections btw, merely the races you chose.

Of course I’m aware about backing second and third favs ew in 8-10 runner condition races where the fav is a short price or odds on.
The EW thief would have gone to Fairyhouse and backed The Book Thief or Cottage Star and possibly Crash in the last, especially one like myself who places most of his bets in Ireland. Both races had Mullins hotpots as fav.
On this occasion my bet does not fit the pattern, there were 12 runners in the first race and I backed the Fav. Second race was a handicap NOt a condition/stakes, again I backed the fav and the last race had a real obvious ew shot which finished second, in faxct on all known form was a far safer ew than the untried mare.
I make no appology for being "sneer material" I’d sooner be sneered at than line the bookies pockets
My point in starting the thread was the total bet was a under £1000, hardy JP stakes

So I get my cash back and live to fight another day if one or more fails to win.
I started the season with a 100 point kitty and I’m not about to blow a big lump of the hard earned profits at Taunton or Southwell with The Festival just around the corner.
February 23, 2010 at 18:04 #278628If you had placed a win trixie, you wouldn’t have been referred.
February 23, 2010 at 18:10 #278631Fair enough CS, can’t say I’m a fan of each way but each to their own.
February 23, 2010 at 18:25 #278632I’ve absolutely no idea why anyone would have a go at someone who doesn’t want to lose their stake. The bookies deceive and look to beat people by any means necessary, so there’s nothing wrong with punters trying to get an edge. Well in CS.
