Having been on her at 10-1 I can’t bring myself to back African Rose at 4s now- still fancy her tomorrow though. I reckon the prices are about right, not surprising since we were all betting on the same race for so long before the abandonment. Good luck with US Ranger Tenbob- do your ratings take into account his being a complete hound? Suggest you lay back a bit in-running on Betfair!
to be honest carvillhill ive given up guessing what horses are going to do and just back my top rated and best value in top three if there is one.
September 12, 2008 at 18:36 #180649I like US Ranger, as does MDeering, and I really think the horse can do it here.
Theres sustained support on Betfair this evening and I can see 6/1 being the off price.
May take a nibble at the current 7/1 seeing as Utmost Respect is drifting already….
September 12, 2008 at 18:50 #180652No-one has slagged US Ranger off more than me this year, but I think tomorrow’s conditions could really suit him, namely a bit of dig in the ground and a proper galloping track.
September 12, 2008 at 19:37 #180658A hard race to pick as with everything being primed to peak for last week, it could well be a matter who is the fittest a week on. I think I’ll stick with Wi Dud and Reverence. However AOB is good at keeping his horses fit, and with the ground as it is I’d be looking for something that not only handles the surface but can get that little bit further staminawise, so U.S. Ranger @7-1. and Astronomer Royal 16-1 are ticking the boxes more than anyone for me.
may just have a little e/w on Wi Dud 50-1 and Reverence 14-1 though as know they’ll slap me in the face I go against them late on.
September 12, 2008 at 20:27 #180666I’ve always fancied US Ranger to scoop one of the big sprint contests at some point, and IMO he’ll have no better chance than tomorrow. You can never have complete faith in the mule, though.
I was also of the opinion that Reverence ran a grand race to finish third at Chester LTO from the car park, but seeing 14s having expected upwards of 20s galled me, to be honest (former winner or not).September 12, 2008 at 20:37 #180672I was also of the opinion that Reverence ran a grand race to finish third at Chester LTO from the car park, but seeing 14s having expected upwards of 20s galled me, to be honest (former winner or not).
He was very strong in the market prior to last week which probably explains the 14-1 at present mate, but it will be interesting to see how strong that 14-1 holds tomorrow.
September 12, 2008 at 20:40 #180674I had thought about that- the market remained pretty stationary from this time last week despite the change of venue, and he’d be the obvious drifter as soon as such effects are allowed for.
September 12, 2008 at 21:21 #180689Can be backed at 25/1 on Betfair now, you fellas are bang on in your suggestion to wait for Reverence (should you fancy it of course, which personally i don’t!).
September 12, 2008 at 23:36 #180718US ranger or reverrence for me. US ranger has ran on worse in france, reverence loves it bad enough too run have the jumping lot calling it heavy.
September 13, 2008 at 01:59 #180739With cut in the ground, I would stick with CorryBrough EW.
He has more room for potential and the race has a very open look to it.
Although the price is becoming prohibitive last time I looked…(7/1 ish)

September 13, 2008 at 10:09 #180754The one i keep coming back to is US Ranger.
However, i think with things softening up, i’m not 100% sure he will produce his best on soft ground.
September 13, 2008 at 14:25 #180789US Ranger shortening at a steady pace.
Utmost Respect drifting like the horse has 3 legs
September 13, 2008 at 14:46 #180793For Utmost to finish 3rd on unpreferred ground, and to drift like the horse did, that is a very good run.
Seems to be a consistent and I’m interested to see where the horse goes next
September 13, 2008 at 15:31 #180796Well done Carvs with African Rose, a good performance.
September 13, 2008 at 17:18 #180802How much of a compliment to Marchand D’Or is it that African Rose and Utmost Respect (2nd and 4th respecitvely behind MD’O last time out) finish in the top 3 again here?
I’ve got well and truly on at 6/1 for Marchand D’Or in the Prix L’Abbeye at Coral. Thats a massive price for the best sprinter in Europe after the form was backed up again today at 6f.
September 14, 2008 at 01:06 #180833Didn’t catch the race on the goggle box and couldn’t find it on Youtube.
Corry seems to have run well in 4th – maybe next year will be his biggie.
Well done to those that backed African thingy.

September 14, 2008 at 01:51 #180837I’d say Corrybrough is ready for his step up to the big stage next season.
Assertive should have been ridden closer – he roared to post a little too sharply and cost him the race. US Ranger is done done done now. Forget it. Wipe the slate clean and don’t touch it.
