Betfair now showing evens for racing to go ahead
September 5, 2008 at 13:50 #179537We’ve had torrential rain here all morning and it’s headed your way- I’ll be amazed if it’s on.
September 5, 2008 at 17:07 #179577Provided racing goes ahead, Id be looking at
Reverence @ 12-1
Asset @ 25-1
Wi Dud @ 40-1
Lipocco @ 66-1September 5, 2008 at 18:25 #179586Wi Dud is an intreguing pick Bulwark.
I read in the RP last week how pleased Ryan was with Wi Dud prior to his last race a week ago. I cant help but wonder if last weeks run was a big build up to an assault on this.
Definitely worth a place punt
September 5, 2008 at 19:12 #179589More rain today for about 6-8 hours and has stopped now but no idea for how long i do not know.
If you are coming tomorrow then make sure you pack some wellies and your jump racing clothes just incase it rains again.

Do you think it will still be on Neil? It will be a shame if we lose another Grp1 sprint to the weather
September 5, 2008 at 20:44 #179601Given that somebody wants nearly £2000 on it being off @ 2/13 on Betfair I would suggest racing is extremely unlikely!!

To be fair though, that could just be a compulsive gambler going by the odds thinking ‘Ahh it’s low it’ll be off’

Eh? That makes absolutely no sense at all!!
Its an exchange!! They are setting the odds?!?!?
September 6, 2008 at 07:59 #179640Meeting abandoned.

September 6, 2008 at 20:59 #179755Ok, so it’s been moved to the Doncaster Leger Day apparently just before the Leger now which does make Saturdays racing look good. I’m not going to tempt fate and say how good it looks though obviously….
Good news for all backers of US Ranger is that Murtagh will now be back on board rather than Jamie Spencer. I think Utmost Respect wouldve had a brilliant chance had Haydock been run in the bog today but we shall see what chance Utmost Respect has come raceday now… The weather will play a key role for that one.
September 8, 2008 at 20:22 #180099I often read form spectactularly wrong, and maybe this will be another turkey, but Belliflore’s 3rd in the Maurice de Gheest makes me suspect the form; as does the otherwise brilliant winner’s speed figure of 74.
I suspect and hope that Corrybrough will become a star of ours, maybe beginning with this race. But also Equiano seems a very solid type, an Wi Dud a possible fly in the ointment.
Having said that, it willl interesting to see if each one of my prognostications turns out ot be spectacularly wrong. I think might even get a grim, perverse satisfaction.
September 9, 2008 at 11:34 #180158Sir Gerry’s connections who withdrew him because they knew at the 5 day stage the ground would be atrocious are not pleased the BHA have refused to re-open the race. Their argument is having paid the initial entry fee and with the race being run on a different track, ground and sponsor they should re-open it. The BHA say it would be unfair to those owners who stood their ground.
Personally as this is the last group 1 sprint race of the season I think they should have re-opened it to achieve the best field.

September 12, 2008 at 18:18 #180637Having been on her at 10-1 I can’t bring myself to back African Rose at 4s now- still fancy her tomorrow though. I reckon the prices are about right, not surprising since we were all betting on the same race for so long before the abandonment. Good luck with US Ranger Tenbob- do your ratings take into account his being a complete hound? Suggest you lay back a bit in-running on Betfair!
