mh
i would have to disagree with you about galileo
he actually ran a very good race in the irish champion and only lost to fl in a tactical race admit not one of kinanes finest moments the form of his derby through golan and storming home last year has worked out very well
and referring to the qe11 in the soft going and front running do u think summoner would have got to him
maybe and maybe not
June 25, 2003 at 13:54 #91593Hawk Wing does seem to have as much spin surrounding him as New Labour. This is all well and good but where does the real Hawk Wing begin and this mythical creature that warms the cockles of Aidan o’Briens heart every morning end.
The big concern for me is that if he has so many problems in his hindquarters and shoulders that he can only run one unbelieveable race before hurting himself is he a horse that should be bred from at all?
June 25, 2003 at 14:14 #91595i dont think that you are diagreeing with me re galileo PR. I think it is forgotten how good he actually was on derby day, and in the KG. I do think that he should have had an arc prep rather than the 10f route. He was hyped by teh press at the time, but his actual achievements have been forgotten and underplayed by the public. Golan didnt hurt the form much last year.
HW justified the hype in the lockinge, its just that he isnt consistent enough to run that well back to back, he is too inconsistent to back at odds on. But the fanstasy 7/2 offered on a differnet thread woulod be the best value saver for anyone fancying anything against HW in the race.
What surprises me is that the QA is seen to be HW true running by most on the forum.

Keep it up.
DL
Well said, in words that I could not find at the time.
PR
Excellent point, but only the hype will be remembered.
ID
i think you possible have the same political view as you describe HW, does that bode well for backand lacklustre.com?
 Copyright ID 2003
Galileo
Good horse won 6/8 on all goings coming 2nd once. IMO worth the hype. Unlike HW.
But still do not like HYPE.
If anyone does have the Last word on this thread, then
HYPE HYPE HOO-Bloody-RAY.
For the record most topics end one of 2 ways which are :
a) When it is considered dead when people stop adding their views and it hasn’t been added to for +30 days in which case it gets deleted or filed in the archive section.
b) It is an extremely offensive thread or childish and is locked or deleted by Admin which luckily is not a common trait here on TRF.

December 23, 2003 at 00:12 #91621I think on page 7, Ian, you said that in your opinion, HW was not an exceptional horse. Well, strictly speaking, that may well be incontrovertible; but as to your judgment in the matter, old chap…aaah…!
You see, very few horses indeed would have broken the all-age track record at a Grade 1 track, as HW did. Does anyone know of any others?
