Nice field for this renewal. No doubt all eyes will be on Jack Christopher to see whether or not he can stay 9F since he’s never travelled this far in his brief career. However, he did win at 8F but some believe that is his limitation given that his breeding is by “Speed” out of “Speed” by “Speed”. His early odds suggest that he won’t stay 9F since he’s only the second favorite. But he’s very talented and I think he can outrun his pedigree. If he does well here, the Travers could be his next target…

The other runners, on the other hand, have been battle tested already with a couple having run in the Kentucky Derby, including Taiba who’s the favorite here.

    Jack Christopher is incredibly fast.

If he’s as effective at 1m1f, he wins, but I find it hard to believe such a rapid animal will stay.

    Looking forward to this.

I was concerned about Jack Christopher seeing out the 1m1f and I don’t think the 7/10 favourite quite did.

    Agree on that, ID.

I would have loved to see him progress. However his pedigree didn’t allow it…

Maybe it’s still early in the racing season, but in my view, it doesn’t matter whether people prefer turf to dirt or vice versa, this sport desperately needs superstars. This year’s 3-yo crop lacks depth and quality on both sides of the Atlantic so I’m not so sure about the quality of next year’s 4-yo+ division. But I remain hopeful that things will change and a few stars will emerge…
