It still is , Nicholls can spot a jockey and can certainly mould them , they’ll be plenty interested , if I was having a punt I’d say Freddie Gordon would be highish up his list
January 12, 2026 at 17:33 #1750237Theres no reason Cobden can’t still ride plenty of horses for Nicholls unless Paul goes into a huff. There’s only a few days racing a week in Ireland and JP doesn’t have one in every race in England.
January 12, 2026 at 17:38 #1750239He’ll be riding JP,s horses in UK though , Nicholls has to move forward so he’ll get his own man , that man isn’t going to let Cobden pick and choose what he wants either
January 12, 2026 at 17:45 #1750243Wrong thread.
January 12, 2026 at 17:45 #1750244I wonder if Sean Bowen was approached for the job but would rather just stay in the UK and win the jockeys’ title every year? 🤔
January 12, 2026 at 17:48 #1750248He’s more a AP type jockey

January 12, 2026 at 18:07 #1750254“He’ll sure be under a lot of pressure in the first few months though, especially in Ireland lol.”
Three months to practise before the Galway festival. Where you can break a leg in the mêlée without even falling off, and still fight tooth and nail to win:

January 12, 2026 at 18:25 #1750258Excellent point, Ruby 👍
January 12, 2026 at 18:27 #1750259Lol you saying AP wasn’t a trier
January 12, 2026 at 18:30 #1750260HDLTG. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. However, yours is flawed. Best NH trainer – WP Mullins. Best jockey – P Townend. Simples. BTW, ALL jockeys are one bad fall from retirement. Stop wishing ill on Jack Kennedy…
January 12, 2026 at 18:33 #1750262Who’s wishing ill on him , Space do some research , Kennedy has had a number of bad injuries and therefore operations , if he does similar again it’s likely the end , I’ve just praised how well he’s ridden this season
January 12, 2026 at 18:41 #1750264I have done my research. I am WELL aware of Kennedy’s injury travails. Think of Michael O’Sullivan. I repeat, ALL jockeys are one bad fall from retirement. Forum discussion allows you to rubbish my opinion, just as much as I can rubbish yours….
January 12, 2026 at 18:42 #1750265I have done my research. I am WELL aware of Kennedy’s injury travails. Think of Michael O’Sullivan. I repeat, ALL jockeys are one bad fall from retirement – or worse. Forum discussion allows you to rubbish my opinion, just as much as I can rubbish yours….
January 12, 2026 at 18:47 #1750266So you know Kennedy has had some bad injuries , so my point is correct then , Kennedy ride at the festival last season when no where near fit , it told , some jockeys are more prone to breaking bones , Jonjo a prime example , Kennedy is similar , if you read AP book he talks about how when he was operated on once the doctor concerned commented on when sawing his bones that they were tougher than normal ….
January 12, 2026 at 19:12 #1750269You are not telling me anything I don’t already know. Still doesn’t invalidate my point. You are neither a doctor, nor soothsayer. I watched the Thurles race in which Michael O’Sullivan died. It can happen to anybody, whether they have a long injury record or not…
I do not know Jack Kennedy, but it would appear that he used his time off wisely. In March 2025, like ANY competitive elite athlete, he wanted to get back quicker than he was ready. That’s sport sometimes.
