Can anyone shed any light on something that has been puzzling me the last few days? Namely the weights for the Sinbad Chase this afternoon.
I can’t fathom how Forpadydeplasterer is receiving weight from three rivals despite finishing second in the Champion Chase last season and other top races?
Surely he is rated higher than all his opponents this afternoon?
The only reason I could possibly think of is that Chaninbar, Tataniano and Oiseau De Nuit all won chases last season whereas Forpady did not. If that is the reason then I’m surprised as I didn’t realise that such a factor came into the reckoning when handicapping a race!

It’s not a handicap, but a conditions race!
For 5yo+ Weights 11st Penalties after September 30th, 2009, a winner of a Class 3 weight-for-age chase or a Class 2 handicap chase 4lb; of a Class 2 weight-for-age chase or a Class 1 handicap chase 6lb; of a Class 1 weight-for-age chase10lb (half penalties for wins achieved in novices’ and beginners’ chases in Great Britain and Ireland) Allowances mares 7lb
The RP racecard shows the Official Ratings, and on those FPTP is 7lb clear of Tataniano, and at least 12lb clear of the others.November 14, 2010 at 10:03 #327867That’s an easy one Mac9, today’s race is not a handicap so Forpadydeplasterer receives no penalty due to his string of seconds next to his name. He is the highest rated horse in the race, 7lbs superior to Tataniano but due to the conditions of the race is a further 5lbs well off with that horse.
According to the handicapper Forpady has a minimum of 12lbs in hand on his rivals.November 14, 2010 at 10:10 #327869Aha!
Thanks very much guys!
I thought it was a limited handicap……problem solved!
