3:05 – Hampton Court Stakes (Group 3)
I looked at this race yesterday and couldn’t believe my eyes when WADILSAFA (13/2) was priced up at 9/1 and I snapped that up. Excellent on his seasonal debut over a mile, he looks as though the extra two furlongs will suit and he’s bred to be special. He showed that day at Newmarket that he will relish the ground and I think he should be somewhere around 5/1 at the off. 9s was a gift from the racing gods. I’ve also Dutched him with KEY VICTORY (9/2) who ran with credit in the French Derby last time after winning a decent contest prior to that. He sets the standard on form and is another who should be shorter that his current price in my opinion. Hunting Horn was only just in front of him that day but had a better passage through and has disappointed on multiple times when well backed. Nordic Lights ran ok in the Dante in fifth but probably needs to find more and William Buick sides with Key Victory. He had looked useful before that though. Crossed Baton won the Derby trial at Epsom before a poor run in the Dante and needs to resume the progress showed before that run to figure.1st – Wadilsafa 13/2
2nd – Key Victory 9/2
3rd – Nordic Lights 8/1June 21, 2018 at 14:06 #1357744I’m not too taken with much in this race so decided to go with the Group 1 form on offer which comes from Hunting Horn and Key Victory. Hunting Horn’s experience swayed it for me in the end and I think he should be in the first 4 so have backed him e/w along with Stephensons Rocket who I maintain has a big race in him.
Hunting Horn 6/1 (e/w – 4 places)
Stephensons Rocket 20/1 (e/w – 4 places)June 21, 2018 at 14:44 #1357762I backed Wadilsafa ante post at 8/1 (in ante post thread)
He showed improved form 2nd time out when he reversed form with Herculean
at Newmarket. It’s a very competitive race, and he will need to have improved
again to take on Key Victory, but I’m hopeful that he has. I’d also give a
shout for National Army (9/1) who looked decent at Doncaster. Maybe a slight doubt
about him getting the extra 2f, but if he does I think he’s the main danger.June 21, 2018 at 14:58 #1357766Am on two here. KEY VICTORY at 9/2 and FAJJAJ at 25/1 each way four places.
June 21, 2018 at 15:04 #1357768I did National Army as he looked promising and the race is uninspiring to me.
Wadilsafa looks dubious to me so he’s my lay.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 21, 2018 at 15:16 #1357770Well done with Hunting Horn Charles, it never looked in doubt
June 21, 2018 at 15:17 #1357771National Army went back, rather than forward today. Maybe too much too soon but he’s hardly the first Godolphin horse to regress on their second start.
Hunting Horn has hosed up, while Crossed Baton has run well for a hot Gosden team. Hopefully Stradivarius can continue the run.
£2 wasted as The Army deserted. Find me a firing squad Captain.
Well done anyone who had the Horn this morning. Glory Be.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
