1f251 40 Turtle Gale(104) (PCO’Connor) – 8,05Alpha Ridge for me at this early stage. Looks off a decent enough mark on the best of his form. Oscar Looby holds him on Naas form from last season but Alpha Ridge seems to be one of those horses that show their best form early in the season.
Themoonandsixpence will probably be all the rage with Ruby back on board. He has a good record in the race – Euro Leader, Bóthar Na and Northern Alliance in recent years.
September 8, 2010 at 06:42 #316388I’d go with Alfa Beat, currently in good form and proven able for 3m.
September 8, 2010 at 19:08 #316556My first post here and I’m afraid I’m the bearer of bad news – Themoonandsixpence is a non-runner as he is lame. Big shame as I think the 6lbs rise for his Galway Plate 2nd was very fair.
I would have been backing him, no doubt about it. Not sure what I’ll do now. Might well have a look at the Charles Byrnes horse that has wont its last four.
September 14, 2010 at 11:19 #317476Backed him in the Plate, Rickos, and he ran a stormer, big shame to read that. Still working through it but Golden Kite looks ok, and Nedzer’s was getting into things when brought down at the last at Galway..
September 14, 2010 at 11:25 #317479Ponmeoath is very interesting. 16lb swing in the weights with Northern Alliance from last year. 10/1 isn’t a bad price for a horse who’s never left Listowel without a pay cheque.

(R2) Swift Counsel(127) (JO’Callaghan) – 10,00
(R3) Nintytwo Team(125) (PJGilligan) – 9,12Alpha Ridge doesn’t go because of the ground presumably. Will keep an eye out for him in the Munster National at Limerick in a few weeks. I think I’ll go with Dancing Tornado now. I think he has the potential to be better than his mark of 139 and he had a nice pipe opener over hurdles at Killarney a few weeks back.
September 14, 2010 at 21:31 #317545Oscar Lobby is my tip in this race
September 14, 2010 at 21:48 #317549I’ve spent the day snaffling 33/1 about Mossbank. If he’s half the horse he was then 151 would be lenient.
September 14, 2010 at 22:20 #317554It’s a very open race, however, I do think Northern Alliance can repeat his performance of last year.

September 14, 2010 at 22:21 #317555Deutschland for me, probably layed out for this.
September 14, 2010 at 22:48 #317561Trying cheekpieces on Deutschland tomorrow. Can’t help but feel that if Ruby wasn’t riding him he’d be a much bigger price and easy to ignore, but as the only Mullins representative in the race he’s a bit of a bother [and a puzzle; meant to be a staying horse but doesn’t stay]. One of my bogey horses that I know will win if I don’t back him. May have an ew on Nedzers Return.
September 14, 2010 at 22:51 #317562I’m down to a shortlist of 3 for this. Favouring Deutchsland at the moment, for reasons mentioned below.
1. Mossbank, thought he was going to be top class. Requires a bit of a leap of faith that’s he’s ready, but if he is, he’s got to have a massive chance.
2. Ponmeoath….already mentioned on this thread by a much better tipster than myself. Bet him a few times over the years, and always liked him, despite the relatively low returns from him. Looks a great chance of a place, as always seems to find a couple too good.
3. Deutschland. My "follow over a cliff" horse. I still reckon he’s gotta big race in him, and I’ve mentioned him a few times on this site as one I really like. His run at Galway was abysmal though, but I’m willing to forgive him, just one more time I think. I’ll never learn. I also note Matthew likes him too, so that’ll do for me. Can’t have Matthews celebratory posts if he wins, and not be on myself.
September 15, 2010 at 01:12 #317578Will Jamie Run, should read Will Jamie win….probably.
September 15, 2010 at 04:43 #317579I’m not allowed to do put up boastful celebratory posts incase I get accused of aftertiming
*aftertiming is something I’ve NEVER, EVER done* and even Barry Dennis covered me on a bet I placed with him at Epsom recently.Good luck VTC and everyone else.
September 15, 2010 at 04:58 #317580I’ve had another look and gone right off Deutschland, I’m backing Alpha Beat, a decent bet aswell, you’ve been advised Venture

There are any number of these that won’t last home in the soft ground including last year’s winner, Northern Alliance. Interesting that Ruby has jumped ship on that one to ride
Deutschland
, a horse who’s always looked a stayer, and this is the kind of prize WM would take the wraps off for.
No problem at all with the going, and ran a blinder on his recent flat outing; can’t see the 16/1 lasting very long at all.September 15, 2010 at 07:41 #317585

No surprise the money just keps coming for Dancing Tornado considering AP has chosen him over the winner of the Galway Plate. Had a nice run with a lad up to finish 3rd beaten 7 1/2 lengths it has all the hallmarks of a welll laid out plan.
If he wins just about everyone will say I knew that.
I was hoping Bob’s Pride who would have won the Plate but for falling at the second last would turn up for this but no such luck.
You would have to give Footy Facts a shout of such a low weight but hopefully AP will do the business for JP.
