An expected walk in the park for the current 1,000 Guineas favourite Rainbow View.
Aaroness can put a gauge on the Moyglare Stud form.
For interest in those running in the second division of this race (you know, the other horses that don’t include Rainbow View?) I’ll have a small place ticket on Uvinza at 25/1. With natural education and improvement in a pretty handy Newmarket maiden, I think she can go on with it.
September 11, 2008 at 11:12 #180423Whilst I agree Rainbow view will be very difficult to beat, and has looked very impressive thus far, I think Snoqualmie Girl is a good each way bet, bearing in mind she’ll have no problem with the distance or going, and she beat the colts last tim out.
September 11, 2008 at 15:52 #180470You were proved right sir at 10-1. She got much closer to Rainbow View than last time but was 3lbs better off.
September 11, 2008 at 16:10 #180475Unfortunately I didn’t back her as there was a non-runner reducing the field to 7
September 11, 2008 at 18:57 #180492Amazing performance by the daughter of Dynaformer and No Matter What.
If I was Mr. Gosden, I’ll keep her for a prep next year, and then tackle the 1,000.She has all the credentials to become a Classic winner (1,000 G.) in 2009.
And, for once and all, defeat the AOB representatives…
for a change!September 11, 2008 at 23:41 #180521I’m struggling to think of a more exciting horse trained over here this season.
Being by Dynaformer, she should have hated that ground and went through it as if she was on a magic carpet. And she did it on the bridle.
Several horses have franked the Solera form and it would be a mistake to crab those behind in the May Hill – fillies she made look slow and ordinary.
Best of all, her demeanour is first class, before, during and after the race. She’s the type of horse who got you interested in the sport in the first place.
Rainbow is entered in the Fillies Mile and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her there, knowing Johnny G.
(I wish she was eligible for the Sun Chariot!).
In the past twenty years, the May Hill has thrown up two 1000gns winners (Ameerat (1st) and Speciosa (3rd)), an Oaks winner (Reams of Verse), a Coronation Stakes winner (Maids Causeway (3rd)).
I wouldn’t be surprised if Rainbow proves at least as good – and probably better than this high calibre list.
September 12, 2008 at 03:43 #180536I guess something has to be favourite for the 100 guineas but boy do some people get carried away easily.
She’s a nice filly but what has she beaten?
1/3 favourite in a terrible excuse for a classic trial she won as you would expect any 1/3 shot to win.
She is not exceptional as far as I’m concerned and won’t be winning any 1000 guineas.
Having watched the race I noticed nothing except her was travelling from 2 out. Had something else been on the bridle and she stormed away from it then I would have been far more impressed. She’s bet avery ordinary lot as far as I can see.
She certainly didn’t look as good to me as last years winner and I think you will find there are a few better fillies lurking in the background.
What she has achieved so far is nothing to write home about and I have seen too many 2 year olds just like her prove to be no better than good when push comes to shove.
It takes more than winning 2 poxy races and a bad May Hill to convince me she is anything special. Look at the form: She beat High Heeled who got stuffed in a class 2 Maiden then went on to win a 3K maiden readily against a 25/1 first timer. She also beat Misdaqeya who’s claim to fame is a class 5 maiden.
Keep your money in your pockets on this one lads she’s a bookies favourite if ever I saw one.
September 12, 2008 at 08:43 #180551As much as I just cannot agree with Fists comments about the falsehood of Rainbow View’s position in the 1,000 Guineas market, or the justification thereof, I’m disappointed that RV was cut again for the Guineas after yesterday’s race. Admittedly this is based on first glance, but there is no way she’s improved from the Sweet Solera IMO, and for effectively showing us nothing new (unless you’re willing to view a 6 l victory in a G3 as a potential fluke) she has been cut between a point and two points.
September 12, 2008 at 12:35 #180575Essentially, Rainbow View has proven she is a class above the ordinary.
Good. Gives us a horse to watch.
That’s about where the hype should stop.
But come on – she’s great to watch. Deserves the favouritism for now as an observer.
September 12, 2008 at 16:28 #180617Ok she may not have beaten anything out of the ordinary but she can hardly do much better than she has and has travelled very well and has never had to be asked a serious question. She looks an exciting prospect though I wouldn’t take the best priced 7-2 for the guineas.
September 12, 2008 at 23:41 #180722She has a relatovly high knee action which some Barbaro had as well.
She is all class, it was like watching Rock Of Gibralter winning the Irish 2000 Guineas..
September 14, 2008 at 03:41 #180842Hardly!!!! this was a selling plate in comparison to the guineas ROG won.
Until she beats something of note she is no more than a classy filly with a chance.
The price on offer is a joke and I would love a bet she doesn’t start favourite on the day.
