HELLO I JUST WANT EVERY ONES POINT OF VIEW WHO THEY THINK WILL WIN THIS RACE ON SUNDAY. I PERSONALLY THINK SANCTUAIRE WILL WIN , WHAT DO YOU THINK?
November 10, 2010 at 14:22 #327323Sanctuaire may well be good enough to win this, but it is much tougher than the race he won so impressively at the Festival.I think others in the race have better form in the book at present. 4yo don’t seem to do particularly well in the race (1 winner in the last 10 years). At the likely prices I prefer to look elsewhere.
My shortlist is General Miller, Manyriverstocross,Any Given Day and Sure Josie Sure. GM has the beating of Menorah on their form at Aintree ( and through him Get Me Out Of Here). He is proven in this class likes the course and the probable going and his brilliant trainer is in good form. He would be my first choice unless it pours with rain when I would favour Manyrivers whose stamina would come into play. I may well save on the other two. AGD is an impoving young horse in fine form and has the benefit of a recent run. SJS could be a blot on the handicap. On her last run she beat Nearby by 21/2 lengths getting only 3lb. On sunday if Nearby runs ( doesn’t look as if he will) he will be giving SJS 21lb. Nearby has obviously improved hugely since they last met but there must be at least a chance that SJS has got in lightly despite the big rise in class she faces.

Alan King spoke very highly of Manyriverstocross in a recent stable tour and with the yard seemingly over whatever held them back last season, he has to have a massive chance.
November 10, 2010 at 17:43 #327354Manyriverstocross has been working well at home, i imagine a good performance from him at the weekend.
I do like Menorah, Hobbsey has his string in excellent form at the moment, but he is quite high in the handicap for the race on Sunday.

I don’t think the big weight in itself would stop Menorah winning. Three horses carrying 11st 12lbs have won in the last 10 years so its obviously not impossible for him to do it. I just think that on their form together at Aintree, and at the weights, General Miller might well beat him again. Of course, Menorah might have been over the top at Aintree, or he may be much better suited to Cheltenham, in which case the form would be misleading….
I think I’m confusing myself now!
November 10, 2010 at 18:41 #327368I do like General Miller, i backed him when he fell at Cheltenham last year, then next time out, he bolted up at Aintree.
I will see how Manyriverstocross goes this week, and probably have a bet on him, getting weight from Get Me Out Of Here and Menorah, and seemingly in good form, i think i may lean towards him, personally.
November 10, 2010 at 19:43 #327378I’ll be taking the favourite on with Get Me Out of Here. I think his pipe opener the other day is being over-factored in the market and he’s a big chasing type so the weight isn’t an issue for me.
November 10, 2010 at 20:29 #327390I took Manyriverstocross for the third time in a row…I read Gary Nuttings post on ATR and its
very
convincing. I backed him in the Totesport and the Neptune (as I’ve mentioned) but he ran a blinder in the totesport. Nutting alludes to the horses comfort in big field, strongly run handicaps. His pull in the weights with last years winner is very attractive and I’m hoping my 9/1 brings some returns.
November 10, 2010 at 20:55 #327395Menorah very very strongly for me. I cant see 151 being a problem. Yard is in great form, already shown he loves Cheltenham & still bags of scope to go a lot further this season. 7-1 is a massive price in my eyes & I have backed it accordingly. Good luck all.
November 10, 2010 at 22:05 #327406Surely a ‘pin job’ to cover the first five in the betting!
I can’t separate them and will probably plump for Sanctuaire, but only because i backed him at the Festival when he absolutely hosed up. Plus, i do tend to get into a ‘Back Nicholls’ horses at any costs’, as the jumps season gets into full swing!November 11, 2010 at 00:17 #327445Just had a look through the runners for Sunday – cannot have Manyriverstocross (unless it rains considerably, which, I’m told, it might!) and, on previous runs with a few of these, I’d be prepared to take Sanctuaire on.
Got to like the look of the top 2 – Hobbs in superb form and is v.confident in the build up that Menorah will run well. I know General Miller just beat him at Aintree but he was relatively fresh after falling at the Festival whereas Menorah obviously had a very hard race. Also after Get Me Out Of Here’s run a couple of weeks back, a definite pipe-opener, he’ll have race fitness on his side and looks as though he’s been primed for this.
Would also be a bit concerned at how much weight the Pipe runner gets at the bottom of the weights, taking into account her defeat of Nearby at the end of last season.
November 11, 2010 at 10:25 #327477Plenty of horses who ‘might’ be well handicapped in here – not least most of the top rated horses, with Menorah, GMOOH, Sanctuaire, Any Given Day all potentially unexposed at their current ratings.
If pushed i’d go for O’Neills – in a peverse National Hunt sort of way, the "tender" ride he recieved recently was a pointer that they were blowing away the cobwebs and targetting this.
I’ll back him each-way reasonably confident of some place money at least.
November 11, 2010 at 12:06 #327500After his very easy renewal, GET ME OUT OF HERE, should be in the perfect condition to go close. I think personally, horses always need a run first, to shake off a bit of rust, and sharpen up. I may have to place a small saver on GENERAL MILLER, really liked this horse last year, and Henderson has better record than most, getting horses ready first time out.
November 11, 2010 at 12:33 #327508You state horses "always" need a run, and then tip a horse who hasn’t had one?
November 11, 2010 at 21:21 #327560Some great points some of you have made their. Sanctuaire did look good but he never beat anything which was top quality in that race Having gone through the form again its got to be out of General miller and Get Me Out Here . G M O H was unlucky not to beat menorah last time at cheltenham a few more strides he would of.
I think the big double of the weekend could belong to henderson this time round with Long Run and General MillerNovember 11, 2010 at 21:37 #327563Greatwood – Really can’t have Sanctuaire off a mark 20lbs higher than when he won the Fred Winter in a race that’s better if the main principals run to form. He may well have improved (especially for settling) but generally speaking the juvenile division was quite weak and he has a real job on here.
I was let down by Menorah when GENERAL MILLER head him at Aintree and then by the very same horse when he was fourth at the Punchestown festival. To be fair, they may have been over the top on both occasions and both are very promising novices but General Miller meets the Supreme winner off 5lbs better terms at the weights and that may make all the difference.
It’s very interesting to note that LUSH LIFE meets Menorah on the same terms that he does for his win and while he was flatted by that he has shown a high level of form on all of his starts and is well worth a good look off 139.
As for the others, Nearby is really stepped up in class and while a 5lbs rise is fair he’s up against it on 11-11.
Get Me Out Of Here should prove much fitter than for his comeback run at Ascot but that was a very winnable race off 150 and it’ll take a leap of faith to back him for me. He’ll be ready to run but it’s hard to have the faith at the moment.
Any Given Day has also been given a fair weight but this is much harder than the race he won at Chepstow; A bigger threat will proabaly be Manyriverstocross, who has run well against some very good types although he needs it good to run well and is in a real tough spot here.
Bets: General Miller each/way at 8/1, Lush Life each/way at 33/1.

With regard to Get Me Out Of Here, it should be noted that Sway won a fair novice chase at Ludlow this afternoon following a similarly restrained reappearance at Uttoxeter a fortnight ago.
