Time for a nice retirement paddock. He has always tried, but there’s something ailing him, I’d say. I’ve thought that for some time. He coulda been a contender …
November 28, 2025 at 17:47 #1745797It is difficult to see where they go with him now. He had the ability but was plagued by jumping issues throughout his career.
Having said that, he still won his fair share and won some good races. I wouldn’t have minded owning one half as good as him!
The only false note was his run in the Old Roan last year. That was an iffy ride by Fox, whether by accident or design.
November 28, 2025 at 17:57 #1745799If he was mine id be sitting down with Lucinda and Schu and suggesting the world hurdle , it’s not a vintage division just now , couple of prep runs and then see what happens , if he’s fit why not….
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 28, 2025 at 18:22 #1745806He finished sixth over hurdles today. I can’t see him winning the Stayers Hurdle after that effort.
November 28, 2025 at 18:39 #1745812He’s a spring horse though , not a great fun by Hewick either

November 28, 2025 at 20:29 #1745861He’s not competitive in the higher grades now , he ploughs through odd fence so is a higher risk of hurting himself so no point flogging him round veterans surely after the fun and winnings he has given owners , surely a good case to retire . Problem is with these types horses owners know they are very
Unlikely to get another so good for big meetings so harder to let go and it’s a reasonable emotion . I doubt trainers will continue unless they think something’s still there .November 29, 2025 at 13:31 #1745981He should’ve been sent back hurdling years ago. Yesterday was much too late.
O’Neill did the same with Minella Rocco years back.
Both of these horses would’ve won World Hurdles imo.
February 1, 2026 at 15:47 #1753052Is there much point persisting with this horse? He has been a good servant but he looks gone at the game.
February 1, 2026 at 15:50 #1753053Should be retired immediately. Cruel to keep turning him out. They were far too late going back to hurdles in the first place.
February 1, 2026 at 15:51 #1753054Scu didn’t exactly manage expectations with his inane comment that Ahoy Senor was potentially the best horse with which he had ever been involved. Carvill’s Hill would have given him two stone and a drubbing.
February 1, 2026 at 16:59 #1753107Hoping owners see sense and retire the horse

February 1, 2026 at 17:23 #1753111I don’t know why they keep running him. An 11-year old with his seven last forms reading:
PU PU F 5th 6th 6th 12th (every time he finished he was dead last….)February 1, 2026 at 17:37 #1753118Russell now tarnishing her reputation continuing to run him.
February 1, 2026 at 17:42 #1753119I think that’s harsh , if he’s got and well and the owner what’s to run then I don’t see the harm , When they saw Corach didn’t want to race anymore he was retired straight away

February 1, 2026 at 17:54 #1753122Agree with HDLG, some harsh comments above. Ahoy Senor’s recent form figures may not impress, but it was only 10 months ago that he finished fifth in a Grade 1 Chase, under 20 lengths behind the winner, Gaelic Warrior. He finished ahead of the subsequent multiple Graded race winner Djelo that day.
This is hardly a horse who has shown nothing for a very long time. Almost all horses go in and out of form. If he shows nothing in a couple more races I agree that his time as a racehorse is probably up, but think the comments about it being cruel to continue, and that the trainer is tarnishing her reputation, are unfair.
February 1, 2026 at 18:34 #1753127A very quiet yard no doubt hoping to turn the corner soon. A lot of theirs are running like no hopers the thing in Bahrain excepted. Probably not the time for us to speculate on if he’s capable of decent form again.
February 1, 2026 at 18:43 #1753129Thinking about it again, if he was mine I would keep him fresh and have one more go at the Aintree Bowl. If he shows nothing then, call it a day.
