Coral and Ladbrokes off the mark, and have it priced up……
https://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/ante-post-racing/national-hunt/greatwood-hurdle/winner
It’s six weeks away, so no rush to back anything, but the one who immediately jumps out is Lisp. Ticks a fair few boxes for me. Competitive enough in the right races, from a yard with good record in this, and he’s the right age, with 4-5 year olds doing particularly well. He has the look of a horse who’ll definitely go here, so the 50’s looks very big.
Another yard with a good record in it, is that of Paul Nicholls. He’s already earmarked Christopher Wood for it, and that looks fair shout at this stage, as does the 25’s, considering that this will be the target. Scaramanga is another one who looks the right type.
The one I really like from Ditcheat though is Quel Destin. Certainly not disgraced in The Triumph, and a good progressive profile, plenty of wins in the bag, and a very nice looking mark.
I won’t pay too much attention just now to possible Irish Raiders, as not too many make the journey for this, but I’m sure there’ll be some eyecatcher sin the entries.
Some others from big yards that I think are worth a mention just now are the Nicky Henderson trained Mister Fisher, and Sofia’s Rock and Azzuri from the Skelton team. Sofia’s Rock looks more realistic of that pair just now, especially as Azzuri looks a spring horse, and was particularly poor last week. His owners like a punt though, and if granted good ground, he’s chucked in here at his best, and he’d be very high on my shortlist if got an entry.
Last but not least (for now)is Flying Tiger. He seemed a very strange recruit to fences, and put back over hurdles, he ran a lot better than results suggested last season. Crucially, he’s joined the Philip Hobbs team, another trainer with a fine record in this, and be very interesting to see if he can get more from this Festival Winner. Out tomorrow, and a win would probably see the required rise in the weights to sneak in here.
Early shortlist….
Flying Tiger
Lisp 50’s
Quel DestinOctober 5, 2019 at 16:04 #1463859Flying Tiger very poor at Fontwell yesterday. Hobbs looks to have a bit of work on his hands there.
Not completely given up on him, but perhaps pushing it to leave him on the shortlist here.
October 8, 2019 at 23:25 #1465384Don’t quite know how I managed to forget about him, but Gumball added to the market by Unibet at a very fair 25’s.
He’d be high on the shortlist now, and he can take over that particular burden from his new stablemate Flying Tiger.
October 9, 2019 at 20:35 #1465482Said on the Betvictor Gold Cup, that I confused these two races.
The ones in this race that I got my eye on are
ELIXIR DE NUTZ
FUSIL RAFFLES
ELDORADO ALLEN
BAND OF OUTLAWS
LISPELIXIR DE NUTZ & ELDORADO ALLEN are only quoted by UNIBET so dubious about their participation.
LISP is quoted ranges from 25/1 by Betfair & Paddy Power to 50/1 by Ladbrokes & 888sports. He one to have onboard with the mud, and with the present condition might be worth a punt
BAND OF OUTLAWS has a good turn of foot, but FUSIL RAFFLES is expected to be top class with strong possibilities for Champion Hurdle.

But you can give them to the birds and bees.October 9, 2019 at 20:56 #1465485Wasn’t going to back anything so soon, but my research (see previous post) and his price was too tempting.
Took 50/1 EW about LISP which Ladbrokes let me boost it up to 60/1 probably for new customers.

But you can give them to the birds and bees.October 9, 2019 at 22:58 #1465495Lisp is still very much my #1 here, so I’ll probably be joining you with him shortly.
I’d happily bet him before the entry stage, and probably Gumball too, if he gets an entry.
October 15, 2019 at 20:10 #1470256Another one from the shortlist, Quel Destin, out at Bath tomorrow.
Nicholls used this race as a prep for Divin Bere last year, and though that didn’t work out long term, I’m hoping this is is a prep for one last pop at a big pot over Hurdles before he goes chasing.
October 17, 2019 at 17:47 #1470564A trend i notice in this race that horses who ran in supreme have good record in race normally those finish well behind in that race
AL DANCER 14/1
Bet for me any views
October 17, 2019 at 18:17 #1470570Very decent price on that Ascot run last year Darren.
October 17, 2019 at 19:17 #1470576Isn’t he going chasing fellas? Almost sure that’s been mentioned

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 18, 2019 at 13:24 #1470628October 23, 2019 at 10:34 #1472379Can’t decide between ELIXIR DE NUTZ & FUSIL RAFFLES so backed both, along with LISP who at 50/1 should be an excellent each way prospect if it happens to be muddy and with the weather unpredictable like it is, who knows

But you can give them to the birds and bees.October 23, 2019 at 12:41 #1472386Was reading last night on the ATR jumps mini-site that Elixir De Nutz doesn’t run until December which rules this out RR77
October 23, 2019 at 13:58 #1472392Having bought a few horses to follow books to help me this season and in one Colin Tizzard says he’s making good progress and expect him around Christmas time. Another of my books says must grounds come alike. My opinion is a lively contender when he does start racing. Already done in Pat’s Ante Post comp, I might have jump in to soon.
Fusil Raffles looks exciting too giving the head of the Market Fakir D’Oudairies a beating at Punchestown, injury prevented him from Cheltenham apparently.
Although Pat’s rule state 2 in his comp and in the interest to try and make a profit I’m keeping to this, Fusil Raffles looks too good to pass up.

But you can give them to the birds and bees.October 24, 2019 at 08:24 #1472422Epatante @ 25/1 for this. Henderson says he’s hoping she will show just how good she is this season, means he rates her highly.
MsManus always likes one in this and she’s the type to appeal. Should get weight off a few in this.October 30, 2019 at 14:46 #1473304Entries…..

Not much change for me here, still shortlist of…..
Gumball
Lisp
Quel Destin…and Fusil Raffles off of 152 very interesting as well, as is Brain Power.
October 30, 2019 at 18:45 #1473320The Ante Post bet on Elixir De Nutz seems to gone astray but was expected when read about not being ready until Xmas. Fusil Raffles has tighten up and in most cases is the favourite, William Hill is best price of 14/1. Another one going blue on Oddschecker is Lisp, still an outsider 888sports are taking 40/1. While the a lot of individual bookies going blue on certain runners it’s Pic DOrhy whose turning blue with most and best price of 20/1 with a lot of bookies.
The piechart at the bottom of Oddschecker says most Ante Post bets are on Humble Hero, but 4 bookmakers have pushed him out in price
