December 19, 2009 at 13:37 #264525has to be Deep Run
December 19, 2009 at 13:48 #264528Ascetic (champion sire at least 7 times), My Prince (5), Vulgan (10), Cadoudal (12+).
Good sire though Deep Run was, he wouldn’t be remotely near the class of those 4. He was the first NH stallion to cover vast books of mares.

December 21, 2009 at 02:53 #264741Although not the ‘greatest’ on paper, I’ve always loved Roselier
Said to prefer it soft but went an most surfaces I found, with their round but low knee action. The ‘greatest’ for me

Presenting looks set to sweep all before him before long, I suspect. Maybe not with quantity but certainly the quality of big race victors.
December 21, 2009 at 09:06 #264750Deep Run was a great sire but covered massive books of mares so got plenty of chances.
My vote would go to Vulgan.

Won the Gold Cup himself, then went on to sire multiple Gold Cup winners, Irish National winners, and an American champion. - AuthorPosts
