FF WH had the 4/1 up for 6 minutes, the best I saw was the 7/2 what took some of. Lets hope it is more than hype. WH has just cut him to 3/1, that was fast.

Horse looked a proper group 1 horse in the making to me on debut

Happy to follow him until proved otherwise

I have told quite a few people I know, the gamble is Darain, take 16/1 with paddy power for the St Ledger and if you had £10 on no big loss if doesn’t work out. It is a gamble if Darain wins next Wednesday or what ever the date is. We all back horses and we all back winners and losers, but if Darain wins on Wednesday he will go 2/1 or shorter for the St Ledger.

Darain at 3-1, and Subjectivist at 12-1 for me.

Another good looking 12F race this one!

I think This’ll be too sharp for Berkshire Rocco and Pyledriver probably had his day at Ascot. He also has a 3lb penalty. Surely he’s not good enough to overcome that? Juan Elcano hasn’t really gone on from his Guineas 5th and has a bit to prove now. It’s possible on breeding the step up to 12F might get some improvement out of him, but his run at Ascot didn’t scream 12F horse really, dropping away quite tamely.

Of the twice raced horses, well only once in the last 20 years has a horse raced less than 3 times won here. Not saying they can’t do it, but it shows the huge step up they are both making. Darain is a massive hype horse, probably the biggest hyped horse of the season I’d say! Not sure why anyone thinks he’s such a Leger Horse personally. His first race was over 10F and was run at a crawl and the last race, also over 10F was about as uncompetitive as they get at that level. I suppose there is a comparison to Lah Ti Dar, but look what she did in her first 2 races, won them both combined a total of 10 lengths and the second race was a listed winner.

Pitching him in here, they obviously are now giving him a big test to see if he is a leger horse, but it’s a huge leap of faith for me. Certainly in the context of this race, he’s no value at all.

Roberto Escobarr is better value for a lightly raced colt. Could run well, but I prefer more runs and better form for this race personally.

So that leaves the Gordon form to go on and I really like the chances of Subjectivist here. Looking at his form this season, on race ratings, he’s been the best horse in his first 3 starts and if he’d been given the opportunity to have a bit of a breather at Goodwood mid race, when he was about 7 lengths clear at one point, I think he would’ve won actually.

The way he kept going when he looked out of gas around 3F out, was super impressive I thought. He only got beaten in the last half a furlong. Surely they will look at that and ride him similarly, but just try to get him a breather and hold his reigns a bit mid race.

If so, I fancy him to reverse the form with Highland Chief and I would be very disappointed if he doesn’t finish in the top 3.

What about Mogul? Well I backed him at Goodwood, probably more in blind loyalty than anything else, but he did it well in the end. Stayed on much better than I thought he would actually, but he looked a little bit in trouble about 3 out. I’ve just lost faith in this family now. Japan did keep improving as a 3year old, so it’s possible Mogul has more, but I’m not convinced. I’m not going to keep following him over a cliff and I do think if Subjectivist had been given a breather mid race at Goodwood, Mogul would not have caught him. One is 7/4 and the other 12/1.

    Subjectivist is fantastic value.

    Subjectivist 12/1 EW

I thought the Symphony Group Handicap was going to be my highlight of Day One, but this race is a cracker, and definitely shades it.

Could easily watch this without a bet, but I’ll definitely have an interest.

I agree with the Subjectivist comments, and I’ll also go with that 12’s EW. He was a proper eyecatcher at Ascot, and I followed him next time, and still can’t believe I didn’t collect. He’s went on from there, and looks a great place chance at least.

I totally see the appeal with Darain as well, but for added interest, I’ll probably go for a repeat of the Goodwood Tricast with Mogul, and Highland Chief, for all I think Darain will scupper it.

Bit of a gamble on Roberto Escobar happening so have added him also at 11/2 as a saver

I’m another one for Subjectivist. I’ve bet him for The St Leger, so I really have to bet him on the nose here.

I was quite surprised at the 16-1 for Berkshire Rocco. I think that he has a great ew chance on this seasons runs.

The form horse is mogul who will most likely come on again. You are taking a huge chance in backing the next two as you’ve no idea if they are up to this standard. No brainier it’s mogul for me. Btw Japan was injured in the king George and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is not now aimed at the breeders cup followed by Hong Kong.

I’d be looking at it completely the opposite

I dont think mogul and the others set a particularly high standard so im happy taking them on with one of the unexposed types

It’s a fascinating race though doesnt look a vintage renewal at this stage

    Gl all :good:

Looks a right tool Pyledriver. Absolutely smashed the big boys under a penalty. Travelled today like at Ascot, like a real good one.

    Heartwarming stuff, fantastic to see.
