Does anyone else think the retirement of Great Heavens was very premature IMO this filly would of won the ARC this Year given the Galileo broodmare record i don’t understand the logic behind her retirement do you?
there was no report she was injured..

Much like Zarkava.
August 11, 2013 at 23:19 #448170I guess it was a business decision – her owner feeling she would eventually earn more from the foal she could conceive at stud this year than she would on the racecourse?

Think if they’d looked at the season ahead and the likely competition from other horses, they’d have seen the potential to win a few more Group races
August 13, 2013 at 09:58 #448261One of my biggest racing gripes is the premature retirement of good horses that still have, potentially, a lot more to offer on the racecourse. It smacks of greed and reeks of cowardice!
