Moved to Aintree’s November card, and entries out…
https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/32/aintree/2022-11-05/821545
If The Cap Fits, Battleoverdoyen and Editeur Du Gite are the trio that I was surprised to see in there, and all interesting in their own right. I’d love to see Editeur give it a try. I’d be slightly surprised if he did though.
I thought Gesskile a really interesting one, and the 20’s looks really fair, but not a race I’d be rushing to have a bet in right now.
If pushed, then the 33’s Janika appeals most, and he liked it for a good way in The Topham. Slipping down the weights, and bound to click sooner, rather than later.
Revised Shortlist
Editeur Du Gite
Coopers Cross
Gesskile
PercussionFinal Decs Edit – I still like Gesskile for this, and he’s main bet 14’s EW, with Coopers Cross now missing. I just like Gesskile a lot, and connections increasingly doing a good job with their horses.
Percussion is probably at the right end of the market on overall achievements, but still, he’s consistent enough, looks to have been kept for this, and not too many miles on the clock. I’ll definitely want to be betting him EW, but the 66’s for now is win only. I’ll add him EW tomorrow or Saturday hopefully
Gesskile 14’s EW
Percussion 50’s EW/66’sOctober 14, 2022 at 11:42 #1618374Editeur Du Gite jumped out at me on first inspection and I’d be very intrigued to see him go here. Won’t be betting him until closer to the time or until there is a slight indication that this is the plan.
Loads of old favourites I’d love to see turn up in this. Simply The Betts, Frankie Du Berlais and Spirit Of The Games frequently carry my stake and that wouldn’t change if any of them do trap here.
The one I am close to betting is Lostintranslation. I couldn’t get over how well he jumped those fences in April; I dare say it was the best he’d looked in years. Stamina just bottomed out in the end. 2, 5 would be perfect for him and he’s been dropped to 150, which surely isn’t beyond him. 25/1 looks a good price to me.
October 15, 2022 at 11:55 #1618516I thought that Kiltealy Briggs was quite interesting here at 20-1, and I’m in agreement with you Peter on Lostintranslation.
I haven’t had a bet though, and I will wait for now, but if the price started to disappear for the tizzard horse I would change my mind
October 15, 2022 at 12:20 #1618521Grumpy Charley interests me at 40s. Good jumper who didn’t quite see out 3 miles last season. He’s best in testing conditions so will need plenty rain but he’s slipped to a good mark.
October 19, 2022 at 10:04 #1619089I agree Peter/VtC, I’d have to see that there was a real intention to go here, but I really do like the 14-1 for Editeur Du Gite
October 30, 2022 at 17:47 #1621059With plenty of rain expected on the run up to next weekend I’ve pulled the trigger on Grumpy Charley. A real mudlark, he should relish conditions were they to become testing as the forecast suggests. 40/1.
October 30, 2022 at 17:55 #1621062I’m waiting on Monday’s confirmed entries with this contest.

October 31, 2022 at 21:43 #1621197Lost in translation

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 2, 2022 at 19:15 #1621357There has been some seriously heavy rain in Liverpool today and I believe more is forecast. I doubt anything that needs ground anywhere near good is going to be winning here.
November 2, 2022 at 19:34 #1621359I liked kiltealy briggs for the ultima last year and he ran well for a long way.
He loves heavy ground and it was nice to see him win on season debut at the raspberry a couple of weeks ago.
20’s is more than fair.
November 2, 2022 at 20:32 #1621391Kiltealy Briggs may skip this for the Paddy Power Gold Cup trainer reported to have said today.
November 3, 2022 at 17:32 #1621463No lostintranslation

November 3, 2022 at 18:56 #1621478So, how much do you lot actually lose on ante-post bets?
November 4, 2022 at 13:28 #1621558I’m definitely glad that I waited on this one. I’ll go with Senior Citizen, who is around the 7-1 mark
November 4, 2022 at 19:06 #1621596Spiritofthegames and Senior Citizen get the final nod. Might add Jack Hackett each way on the course for a bit of fun.
