Jonjo has a plan he’s going to run Don’t Push It and shouldn’t be too high in the handicap.
He shouldn"t be too high in the handicap, but he will be Fist! try 11-5,Not a prayer!10-5 and you would be thinking Clan Royal
I"m afraid not! With you there matey.
I have Don’t Push It down as 11st5 unless Notre Pere runs. If Notre Pere runs I have him at 10st13.
Character Building catches my eye at 10st9 on my ratings as does Ballyfitz at 10st10 and Can’t Buy Time at 10st5.
January 9, 2010 at 22:57 #269060I"m convinced Notre pere is a mudlark and you have him about 3lb higher than me,if he runs i reckon Dont push it will get 11-2,i dont think he will run though!Mon mome will get top weight imo!

Agree again on the Mon Mome comment. Despite Notre Pere getting a National entry I don’t think he’ll run.
I’ve got Comply Or Die on 11st4 if Notre Pere doesn’t run and 10st13 if he does. That could be a very nice weight for him
January 10, 2010 at 11:28 #269096If Mon Mome goes off top weight, I think we might see the mighty return of Comply Or Die into the Aintree winners enclosure.
Yes i wouldn"t disagree with that,11-4 and Comply is a player!
Halfway, you have been doing your homework!
January 10, 2010 at 11:37 #269098I’m I the only one looking at Garde Champetre
January 10, 2010 at 13:34 #269116I’m I the only one looking at Garde Champetre
No
As stated in this thread, he is one of Gerald’s top selections
January 10, 2010 at 15:18 #269130£57.94 @ 102.16
I hope he’s bloody entered!
I’m having a nightmare, what with Himalayan Trail and Golden Flight dropping like stones through the h’cap, and Merigo, Coe, Jass, Boychuk and Ballytrim not quite doing the bizz to get into the race.
January 10, 2010 at 16:48 #269140Hi all new to this forum
I would like to see Paddy Pub run in the National, would need a 4lb rise in the weights but stays and jumps well.

I hope he’s bloody entered!Hi Gerald
Terrific odds, they’d be some run on him in the betting if he ran with a proper female jockey onboard, I could see a huge "housewifes choice" gamble. He didn’t run last year as they though he might be on the small side for hurly burly of The National. Maybe JP is reconsidering the horse is very neat and nimble at his fences and he’d love to win the race, it would be great for racing too if Nina won the National. No need for Claire Balding to ask her to smile
January 10, 2010 at 19:54 #269176We were talking about Paddy Pub either earlier on this thread or the one in the trends section; he’s actually a very young horse for this years race [but then, so is the favourite!!].
January 12, 2010 at 21:01 #269516Hi there, not worked anything out, yet but really keen on Niche Market’s run when he ran in the Hennessy.
Form from Hennessy is working out too with Barbers Shop coming third in King George
Also What A Friend winning the postponed Lexus in Ireland.
January 15, 2010 at 16:16 #270068Hey Gerald,
Great work on this and thanks for the update on horse that are no longer running etc, etc.
Myself and a buddy were waiting over Christmas for Mr Strachan to come out as it looks like it has come back to near it’s best Novice form and off a rating of 132 looks to be very nicely handicapped and the way it has run the last two times could be a possible stayer for the GN trip.
Certainly sees out 3 Mile very strongly.
Would love anyones opinion on this one.

January 15, 2010 at 17:03 #270082Will it get in off a rating of 132? ”has undergone a wind op in his absence and will return to run in staying handicaps on stiff tracks like Carlisle and should prove capable of winning off his mark of 129 over fences’. Well; I missed that one..hope you got a good price when he won at Carlisle!
January 16, 2010 at 10:51 #270187Hi WREC
Thanks for that – it has encouraged/prompted me to do an update. Ratings now take into account the Christmas period runs, though some of the Irish ratings are my guesstimate. Probables are in blue [/color:3vkl6h26] and possibles in Yale (pale) blue. I gained the impression that the RP site went a little haywire regarding some ratings over the New Year.
The horses are just those in my spreadsheet, and it isn’t exhaustive; for example, I think I’ve left Ellerslie George out, as he is likely to go for the righthanded Irish National.
I think Notre Pere will probably be given a rating of 163, to encourage connections to run. I read that Dreaper said that the horse was going to get an entry, but browsing in the Weekender earlier this week a columnist was writing of the horse as a definite runner. Has anyone come across anything from the horse’s mouth, so to speak?
Maybe Kauto Star should run, as everything from Mon Mome down would be 10lbs+ out of the handicap.
If I come across a couple of errors, I’ll edit them in, and leave a note at the bottom of the post saying that I’ve done so.
edit: My view of Probables and Possibles only goes down to 138. In some cases I’m not sure, so I’ve just left it in default black/grey, which maybe is a bit illogical.

112 Freeze Upedit: It was announced that the GN would be the target for Stan, when the horse was with Vaughan. Probably still the case?
Silver Birch should be a probable, and Hennessy a possible.
I’ve been out of the racing loop for a few days, so I didn’t realise Rare Bob is ready to run.
January 16, 2010 at 22:22 #270324I cant be having Garde Champetre for the obvious reason; Its not a banks-course. Look what he did in the Irish National, he just wasnt interested. War of Attrition, Big Fella Thanks and Comply or Die are who Im going with, for now!!!
January 16, 2010 at 23:22 #270339Have to agree; remember how brilliant Risk of Thunder was, but he did nothing in the National. Garde Champetre is much classier an animal, though.

Mr Strachan was a horse I had an eye on, for betting on in general, as Sue Smith gave him a good write up in the RP Stables Tours, but I don’t have it to hand at the moment. Still only rated 132, and he has 3 142 RPRs performances.
She was also in the Weekender at the end of the year, and said that Mr Strachan has had TWO wind operations, and must have plenty of give in the ground (Claisse ). Now that Warwick was abandoned,, he’ll likely go for the 3m2f at Cheltenham at the end January, presumably unless Smith really wants to get a run into him sooner.
