My list is.
Palypso de creek
Ollie Magern
Beat the Boys
Cerium
Erics Charm
Royal Rosa (if he gets in)Erics Charm is one i was sorely tempted by and is probably one i’m going to turn to on the day
Come the way of the Charmster, you know he’s a better horse than people are making out
Seriously, though – I’ve been a supporter of his for ages, and slowly but surely more people are coming on board – should I be pleased, or worried?

So don't run, just like the others always do
April 7, 2010 at 21:13 #288391I’ve topped up my bet on Beat the Boys now that he’s 100/1 and had a nrnb on Royal Rosa, because he was such a good horse a few years ago. Annoyed that I intended to top up my bet on Snowy when his price drifted a while ago, but I didn’t get round to doing it. I’m still not sure about his jumping, though.
April 7, 2010 at 21:36 #288400Surprised it took Timmy Murphy so long to decide to ride COD. 1st and 2nd in the last 2 nationals; surely it was a no brainer
Hard to get off COD I suppose but Ruby passed up Snowy
Morning to stay loyal to Hedgehunter in 2008 – pretty close to egg on face.April 7, 2010 at 22:06 #288413Surprised it took Timmy Murphy so long to decide to ride COD. 1st and 2nd in the last 2 nationals; surely it was a no brainer

Morning to stay loyal to Hedgehunter in 2008 – pretty close to egg on face.I think Comply Or Die was really the only option for Murphy. Whn a horse has done for you as much as he has for Timmy; staying loyal is just a given, like Walsh to Hedgehunter, G Lee to Amberleigh House etc…
April 7, 2010 at 23:42 #288423I am a little surprised with Timmy’s choice.
Might seem strange, but:
With his jumping and record in the race, I believe Comply Or die has a better chance of placing than The Package. Yet with the excellant handicap mark, The Package has a better chance of winning than Comply Or die.Have saved on Comply Or Die at 25/1. May well do the same with The Package if he drifts further.

Comply Or Die won’t start at 25′. He might be 20’s in the morning, but he will go off around the 16 mark on the off…
April 8, 2010 at 06:53 #288438Must admit I am over the moon that it now seems unlikely that CDG will get in – Even taking into account the pull outs to enable stable mates to get in I cannot imagine CDG will make it.
I would happy for the cut off to be Knowhere.

With
Don’t Push It
and
Mon Mone
being my 2 since day one and nothing has having changed my mine I’m however adding a 3rd and a 4th
For 3rd I’m going with
Cloudy Lane
who has had a funny old season but showed he still retains some ability when looking like he was going to be involved in the finish of a decent hurdle race at Haydock. He faded in the closing stages but I doubt if Donald McCain had him cherry ripe that day or any other this season. He was fav for this a couple of years ago and if anyone can bring him back to his best it’s Donald McCain. All the signs are there and I expect a big run at a big pice.
For 4th I’m going with
Cerium
who finishedd 5th last year and with Davy Russell most likely to take over from Keith Mercer he’ll want nothing in the way of assistance. Could just go one better than last year.
I’ve been backing Don’t Push It are some crazy prices but when Jonjo confirms AP rides his price should tumble dramatically……then it’s green lay time for me.
April 8, 2010 at 09:05 #288460Every horse declared so the 40 runners are the top 40 as of yesterday ie last one in Abbeybraney. 4 reserves Silver Birch, Cerium, Royal Rosa and Knowwhere
David ParryApril 8, 2010 at 09:21 #288465nina carberry booked for character building ride

April 8, 2010 at 09:24 #288467I am please about Nina Carberry, my 33/1 with Character Building is looking ok at the moment.
Am just hoping now the Knowhere gets the withdrawals
April 8, 2010 at 09:49 #288474New owners wanted a professional jockey. So they jock Jamie off and put Nina on. That’s a mistake
April 8, 2010 at 10:23 #288488I don’t think I’m alone in not wanting to see Character Building within an ass’s roar of the places. The new owners have just rubbed salt in the wounds of Jamie Codd with this jockey booking. Codd is the second best rider in the point to point scene in Ireland and I’d prefer him in a strong finish than Nina. The only reason he hasn’t turned pro is he’s probably making more money out of point to point scene than a lot of journey men jockeys in the professional game. Disgusted by the whole episode.
April 8, 2010 at 11:06 #288503It is a massive shame for Jamie and I wouldve preferred to see Mr Codd on board the beast for the National.
However, no matter what the owners have done PLEASE can we keep into context that we will be wanting the HORSE to win. Character Building deserves a victory like this for himself and for John Quinn after last years’ unlucky late deflection.
Jamie Codd, Nina Carberry or the bloke playing the machine at my local bookies…I still want Character Building to win more than any of my other bets.
April 8, 2010 at 12:24 #288528As someone who has always rated Nina very highly I’ve just put my money where my mouth is…£750 EW @ 16-1
The last time I had more than a fiver on any horse in The National was on Mely Moss and the time before was Spartan Missile…..so by to the stats she’ll probably be secondApril 8, 2010 at 13:55 #288547As someone who has always rated Nina very highly I’ve just put my money where my mouth is…£750 EW @ 16-1

April 8, 2010 at 13:59 #288548I highlighted Big Fella Thanks and Comply Or Die when the weights were released and I have no reason to desert the pair of them.
The drying ground will suit Character Building and he should go well for Nina, but I need an ‘ouside’ bet to compliment my two well fancied selections and I fancy Maljimar to run well at a decent price.
