Pace is comparitive TAPK, you compare like with like (heavy with heavy). From what I saw looked like a stop start gallop. Atouchbetweenacara made what looked a good pace, but AP managed to slow it down on Nacarat. As has been said, if it was consistantly strong Nacarat would not have stayed on so well and Razor Royale was fairly prominent too. If it were strong throughout you’d expect hold up horses to do better.
Value Is EverythingMarch 1, 2010 at 16:25 #279876Ruby Walsh about Snowy Mornings sunday run; "That was some Aintree prep"
Seems like he’s in good form heading to Aintree. And with a lot less weight on his back; he is a tempting offer.
I have decided to have 5 main picks and 5 subs.
Black Apalachi
Elersllie George
Hello Bud
Notre Pere
Preists LeapAll being my main selections. My subs being…
Niche Market
Vic Venturi
Ollie Magern
Our Vic
Mr PointmentBeing my subs.
I have fun

March 3, 2010 at 17:19 #280264Glad War of Attrition is sticking in there. Morris complained about Hear the Echo’s weight last year, but kept him in anyways, so maybe we’ll see the same this year…. hopefuly not exactly the same though

March 5, 2010 at 15:45 #280628Looking over the trends for horses in the National over the past 25 years, horses need to be predominately 9-10 years, weighted roughly 11 stone, and won over 3 miles.
This has made my back –

Don’t Push ItMarch 6, 2010 at 20:08 #280876big fella thanks, now joins tricky tricster in favouritism, the only thing that puts me off is he is trained by paul nicholls, great trainer, but national has soo far eluded him, or should i just forget he is trained by paul nicholls and back him
March 6, 2010 at 20:22 #280880I spent most of the past decade interested in other things, only watching racing on TV, and not reading papers, and not having internet access, so my knowledge is a bit sketchy.
Isn’t the problem with Paul Nicholls & The Grand National that he campaigns his horses honestly throughout the season, and consequently they haven’t been well-handicapped?
The difference now is that he is laying horses out from the start of the season with the National as their main aim? That happened with My Will, and is happening with Tricky Trickster and Big Fella Thanks.
He also suffered from Ruby riding Hedgehunter for about 5 Nationals.
March 6, 2010 at 21:07 #280892I think the fact that Barry Geraghty may ride Big Fella Thanks proves that they mean business with this one. And Tricky Trickster was bought to win the National, although I still think he could run a blinder in the GC. The pieces are falling into place now, although a lot of my ante post bets have bitten the dust today.
March 7, 2010 at 09:57 #280947Well, Knowhere certainly gave me reason to back him again. I know he’s stretching it with his handicap, but there were a lot of big weighted drop outs the other day and i expect that to happen again… i hope he can squeeze in, becuase although he did make a couple of errors on the way round yesterday; he still ran great and i like him.
March 7, 2010 at 10:21 #280950Out of my ap bets, I’m pleased to have seen Eric’s Charm (who’s only six withdrawals away from being there) and Big Fella Thanks win yesterday.
Not so happy about Possol, though!

So don't run, just like the others always do
March 7, 2010 at 10:45 #280953I share your pain, Peter. I was on Knowhere yesterday as well.

I thought he was gonna take it jumping the last. The blinkers seem to work well with him.
He’s 70th in the handicap with Taranis being withdrawn, so him making the final 40 isn’t out of the question, but we’ll just have to wait and see…
