Plenty support here for Comply or Die here so well done to you all, especially MCFC with the forecast.
April 5, 2008 at 16:37 #156189Congratulations Comply or Die backers. Couldn’t have backed an Eider winner with moody money, but what do I know.

(Btw nice to see you back on the horses, FSL, rather than the Find The Lady and that. You know it makes sense…)
April 5, 2008 at 17:51 #156245I’ll echo comments by Max and Corm. I wouldn’t have had Comply or Die if I’d have taken a couple of handfuls. Quite pleased for my namesake too, who might not be the most popular owner in the sport, but he has invested plenty in it and has also had his fair share of sadness over the Aintree fences over the years.
April 5, 2008 at 18:15 #1562541. Comply or die

April 5, 2008 at 19:43 #156278Another national trend bites the dust- the first blinkered winner since Earth Summit. Well done all those who were on.
April 5, 2008 at 19:48 #156281…and the Curse of the Eider has been lifted after 13 years, too.

April 5, 2008 at 20:12 #156289I think my beloved Nil Desperandum was looking down on this fellow today saying c’mon do it for both of us. Perhaps blinkered horses just have to be kept out of trouble quite a bit [look at the careful ride that Choc gave D’Argent and how Timmy Murphy rode the winner] and have to travel that bit further; therefore have to be really well handicapped??
April 5, 2008 at 20:36 #156302Very nice MCFC
At least I didn’t embarrass myself selections wise lol.

I’m not going to say anything to that lol.
Well now the REAL racing is here I’ll be on the horses for a while mate.

That went through my mind as well GC, although I’d wager it’s been a long time since such a classy animal took Newcastle’s major staying crown (no Northumberland Plate jibes, flatties!).
Personally, I’m delighted. David Johnson is an owner who seems to find hard luck stories with his horses more than perhaps the law of averages dictates he should, and I’m fast becoming an admirer of the new regime at Pond House. Couple that with the fact that CoD is possibly my biggest National lift ever and that I got 5 places on my e/w bet on Bewley’s Berry and it’s been a good day.

There was a very interesting close-up picture of the winner jumping in the Times today (the Irish edition anyway)
The blinkers he was wearing are a bit different to normal ones- his side and front vision is unimpaired, all they do is stop him seeing behind him. I’d still be against a horse wearing full blinkers in the race in future. - AuthorPosts
