I actually wrote out this thread yesterday, asking the question, would North Hill Harvey run here, or in the Arkle…But then whilst checking, saw that he had been jocked up for the Arkle… So I deleted the intended thread, and rued the Skeltons for not running him here. He was 16-1 for this yesterday, but I did not back him stupidly, as I thought he would 100% be Arkle bound.
Big about turn today, and he’s now heading here. 9-1 in a place, best 12-1 today. You cost me 4 points team Skelton! Will probably have to take some 10’s now too!
Their best chance of a winner IMO. He’s absolutely made for this race. If the ground is a bit better by Friday, this lad will jump them silly.
March 12, 2018 at 12:44 #1345878I really can’t argue with selection Nausered, and good luck to you with him.
I just have to take a chance here though on Foxtail Hill. Yes, ground is a concern, and last run wasn’t great, hinting at temperament, but I just can’t get away with how he travelled till close home in the two big 2 mile 4 handicaps earlier in the season, only bottoming out late on, while his win here in October was very, very impressive.
Love this horse, and have had a go at 20’s NRNB.
Never one for backing favourites, but that 10-1 about Don’t Touch It, looks very fair.
I will add another, and it may be the fav, but I’ll hold fire with Foxtail for now.

March 12, 2018 at 13:30 #1345887Thanks VTC, and good luck with Foxtail.
Interestingly, when I placed my bets, Ladbrokes were shortest on NHH for this. He’s shortened another couple of points across the board since yesterday, Ladbrokes still standout shortest on him, now have him 7-1 joint fav. Skelton is a Ladbrokes ambassador.
Really I’d prefer the ground to dry out a bit by Friday, but happy with 12’s now.
March 12, 2018 at 22:34 #1346035NHH has a right chance in this, took some of the 10s last night. Soft ground on a strong pace probably what he wants and looks on a decent mark.
March 15, 2018 at 23:09 #1346888Kind of sad to write about the last race of the festival. Time is flying. Valdez 20/1 EW for me and Foxtail Hill 25/1 EW for here. Valdez is a gamble obviously after being so long of the track, but I think his comeback behind Altior and Politologue was positive. He certainly didn’t gave it all, but still remained quite close to the best two-milers of Britain. Foxtail Hill loves Cheltenham and just like Splash of Ginge today I think he can run a great race, he is on a fair mark.
Valdez 20/1 EW
Foxtail Hill 25/1 EWMarch 15, 2018 at 23:15 #1346893Skelton is not in the best of form. Surely Gino Trail and Foxtail Hill will cut each other’s throats, both HAVE to lead so whoever does will be going too fast. The race will be set up for something held up that likes Soft and stays further: Le Prezien, Three Stars and E/W Doitforthevillage who has been laid out for this since a good C&D run by being sent over hurdles.
March 15, 2018 at 23:30 #1346899Doitforthevillage at 33/1 5 places is huge IMO has been saved for this!!
The other one I have backed is Theinval who will love the mad pace that Gino Trail and Foxtail Hill will set and at 14/1 Hendo will try again to win his dads race
March 15, 2018 at 23:59 #1346917I’m surprise the price is holding for Don’t Touch It, and I’m tempted to go in just now, but I will hold fire for my #2 in this till nearer the off.
One I will be backing is Eastlake. Down to a very handy mark now, and he’s obviously been kept fresh for this, not being seen since October. Yes, he’s a 12 year old now, but he’s had a wind op recently, and I’m not sure why they would want to give the old boy the trouble, if they didn’t have one last hurrah in him.
It would be too painful to miss out on the old rogue if he did do the business, with memories of missing him in The Topham, still fresh in the memory, so at 33’s each way 5 Places on the go, and barely a Jonjo runner spotted all week, I’ll have a bit of that.
March 16, 2018 at 02:17 #1346942The Game Changer for me. Perhaps one last winner for Elliott and Kennedy. He only carries 11st.
March 16, 2018 at 08:15 #1346966What a cracking renewal this year. I give any number chances.
Vaniteax (12/1) and Don’t Touch It (10/1) look to have been aimed and primed for this whilst Le Prezien at 16/1 makes a hell of a lot of each-way appeal.
March 16, 2018 at 17:09 #1347103Just added Don’t Touch it as a saver at a big 16’s (that ain’t a good sign), and I’ve eventually taken Eastlake to 40’s, and Sizing Platinum to 66’s, both each way 5 Places.
Foxtail Hill 20’s ew BOG
Eastlake 40’s ew
Sizing Platinum 66’s ewMarch 16, 2018 at 17:12 #1347105Can’t let North Hill Harvey go having backed him for the Arkle.
Saver on Foxtail Hill who should go well at this trip in the ground.
March 16, 2018 at 17:28 #1347110I’ll give Vaniteux one last chance to fulfil early promise after wind surgery. He had threatened to make up into a decent horse at one stage.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 16, 2018 at 18:02 #1347117WD Charles, lots of winners tipped up by TRFers all week and it’s good that the winner of the last race was put up here to round things off
March 16, 2018 at 18:20 #1347121Sadly confirmed that both Dresden & North Hill Harvey were lost in this race. Horrible end to this year’s festival
March 16, 2018 at 18:36 #1347131Ah that’s horrid. I’ve been checking around since the race as I backed NHH and ovb watched him tumble, I feared the worst when he fell. I just asked on another thread if anyone knew if he was alright as I could not see anything about him anywhere. I hoped he’d got up.
I backed Sandsend as a saver in the County too. Bad day.
Both of them were running great races, very sad.
March 16, 2018 at 20:56 #1347169NHH was the worse end for me – let alone all the people closely connected to the horse. There are a few horses that win a place in your heart and he was one of them for his performances at cheltenham. Backed Killbricken Storm in the 3rd race and i’d give it all up and more to watch NHH get up and canter away.
We have to accept the risks but it doesn’t make it any easier
