9 The Fonze(125) (EDoyle) – JRBarry(C).. 11,03
10 Keys Pride(129) (SRyan) – .(T)………….. 11,01It is a pity that this race hasn’t attracted any of last year’s novices because it looks a poor contest for a Grade 2. War Of Attrition is a shadow of the horse he was when he won the Gold Cup but he should still be good enough to win this on his favoured fast ground. If he can replicate his form behind Noland from the Durkan last year he’ll win comfortably. Might consider backing him myself tomorrow given his great record when fresh.

Probably won’t be betting, but I’ll make sure I’ll watch it, and all the other interesting races in Ireland over the winter, unlike last year, when I only saw 4.
October 3, 2009 at 19:43 #251507Gosh, The Fonze was one of my original Kerry National fancies, before I studied the race properly.
Maybe I should have had a bet in the race after all.
Joanna Morgan was saying the ground is quick, so it will be a nervous wait over the next few days to see if War Of Attrition et al are okay. He ought to be okay, or else he wouldn’t have finished so close?
October 3, 2009 at 20:07 #251515Oh no; I backed The Fonze last time as well; looked at it in the bookies this morning after work but decided not to bother. Rats!
