Elliott issued a further long and lengthy apology last night which sounded nothing like the hollow vacuous one he gave earlier, almost like it had been written for him..

I appreciate what everyone is saying. Elliott’s stupid and indefensible actions have seriously brought racing into disrepute and done an enormous disservice to all the people who lavish care and attention on racehorses.
However, is talk of a lifetime ban fair or realistic? As Lydia Hislop said in yesterday’s podcast, Mick Quinn mistreated horses that were alive. He only got a three year ban and is now training again.
Might Elliott have good cause to feel aggrieved if he received a more severe punishment when strictly speaking there is no welfare issue?

Four.Stand in the background and report the events as a self righteous, self ordained moral compass for the nation.
Five. Following Sunday, release starling new allegations as people fall over themselves to sell their stories to all the tabloids
Six. Watch dwindling paper sales rise rapidly
Seven. when the Rancid Racing post take the moral high ground you know for certain the sport is in deep deep trouble
