I didnt see the race, but was it a case of R Hills getting Tabadul beaten, or did the better horse on the day win?
August 1, 2006 at 14:25 #74468Aston,
Even though Tabadul would have been a very nice winner for me, I think knocking (and I often do) Hills here would be a little unfair.
He seemed to be going the best 2 out, and I think whilst he could have maybe held him for slightly longer, he almost had to leave him go.
Agonising loss :)
August 1, 2006 at 15:50 #74469Some fatter wallets this evening than this morning at TRF. Well done all round/:cool:
August 1, 2006 at 18:32 #744702 done right on the line, one of them by your selection DJ.:(
August 1, 2006 at 23:28 #74471Apologies for the rubbish Iffraaj post last night, lads. It was very late at night. Pre-match nerves too.:o
I went down today for the first time, to fulfil an ambition. Hove d**s too! Five hours there, three back. No equine winners all day, (except, weirdly, two on a horrible Beverley card).
A conviction that Jadalee will improve past Sixties Icon in the Leger, backache, blisters from the biblical march to the car parks, a dislike of William Haggas, (which I’m sure will pass) and a crumpled leaflet for Fred’s Rapid Loans, (Midhurst), in my back pocket are the only legacies of my first visit to Glorious. Wonderful scenery, though.
Tregoning has three live ones tomorrow, if we’re still playing the Tomorrow game.
August 2, 2006 at 11:25 #74472Don’t be surprised to see Echo Of Light run an enormous race against Araafa.
August 2, 2006 at 11:45 #74473I’m going to forgive SS her last run and take the 9/2.
August 2, 2006 at 12:47 #74474Very tempted to lay Araafa at current odds here, but
Is Soviet Song back on song, if she is, then she’s a cracking price and would be the one for me
can Echo of Light reproduce his run LTO on turf, if he can he’s in with a big shout
August 2, 2006 at 13:05 #74475I’ve backed a few against Araafa (not soviet Song though).
What I can’t understand is the price of Court Masterpiece?? Very, very unlucky in the Queen Anne, and a good record at goodwood. Should be 3 or 4/1 imho.
Can a professional layer explain to me why CM is the price he is?
Think Echo of light may nick it though

It all depends how you look at past performances
CM is proven in this grade, but just short of top class, Soviet Song is proven, and Araafa looks a very decent horse, but has still to prove it against the older generation and Echo of Light’s performance LTO was very decent and both the latter are open to more improvement
If you believe SS past it, EoL’s form not up to this, then your price is probably right and he has Araafa to beat
If you think the former then the layers are probably right regarding CM’s price
<br>Hope that makes sense

August 2, 2006 at 14:07 #74477Evey possiblity that Soviet Song is over top, but 7.0 + is worth paying the price to find out imo
August 2, 2006 at 14:25 #74478Bloody typical Frankie! Cannot get the guy right :( He’ll win the next race, guaranteed. Just like Hughes always wins the next race after blowing out on one of my fancies LOL<br>I’ve been following CM all the way back to the Lockinge, today I deserted him as a placer. Again, bloody typical.

Thank you for this post Salselon – I decided to back Court Masterpiece at the last minute and made a nice bob or two. Good work!
August 2, 2006 at 14:30 #74480I mentioned yesterday on some post here that I thought CM was the bet of the season at 11 on BF, couldnt understand it.
But I didnt make half as much as I should have, as I spread my bets around.
Should stop moaning now and be happy with a win I think :cheesy:

Take now’t away from CM’s performance, but it would be interesting to see what the sectionals guru’s make of it, they looked to go a very decent gallop there and those making the pace couldn’t see it out

Orpsie Boy, 4.25, looks a horse who should appreciate this sharp 7f.<br> Twice this season he has finished with a flourish, both over 6f and in better races than this. Subsequently, being ridden up with the pace over Newmarkets stiff 1m, or lto’s dawdle over 6f, were never going to suit him. <br> Not drawn too badly for a hold-up horse either, he should be able to sit and wait, while avoiding the inevitable crowding on the inside rail.<br> Yeats, given the time since his last run his trainer believes he needs, looks bombproof in the Goodwood Cup.<br>Have a good day!
August 3, 2006 at 07:59 #74483The 4.25 looks weak, chock full of soubtful stayers imo. I like Heaven Sent who has come the Peeress route, winning the 7f 3-y-o fillies handicap at the July meeting beofre coming onto this, Peeress would have won this when second to Peter Paul Reubens but for being given an awful ride. Will also back Orchrad Supreme who shaped very well at Sandown last week from a poor position and as he’ll be dropped out, stall 1 isn’t the nightmare it might have been.
