February 17, 2012 at 22:18 #392046In all my years of going racing I have never seen Newbury busier than it was today! I wonder why?
I got the shots I was looking for.First and foremostJunior
,the ground was very soft and his big weight certainly told,he’ll come on for it but whether he can jump Aintree i really dont know!

February 18, 2012 at 09:49 #392132I got to Newbury in 21/2 hours yesterday,I was 3 miles from the course at 11am,plenty of time to see ‘Calgary Bays’ doppleganger (do you like that word Eclipse?)in this
Sprinter Sacre
but alas another 12000 racing fans had the same idea and Newbury was gridlocked,it took another 11/2hrs to do what normally takes 5 minutes so i missed the beast run!
The remainder of the day was a PR success and Betfair and Newbury racecourse have to be commended, the locals trying to commute around town wont be happy mind! The horse to take from the day, well the ones i got to see is defineatelyDarlan
he was travelling all over the winner yesterday before falling 2 out,his lad had to follow ‘Zarkandar’ back down the chute to the winners enclosure listening to all the applause for the winner,he was absolutely gutted,he knows if he turns up for one of my favourite races of the year ‘The Supreme’ he wins,’He’s a Champion’ was the poor lads reply to me saying ‘Some Novice that’! Funnily enough the horse he hampered went on to win it too
Get me out of Here
,Coral Cup here we come!
February 18, 2012 at 10:13 #392138Cheered me up no end to hear you say that Darlan was ok, as I watched the horses go past the post and didn’t see Darlan come back, so was fearing the worst. Can’t wait to see Sprinter Sacre at the Festival [Tuesday always the best day imo] although I did read that one of the reasons why Cue Card ran badly last year was that he’d had a sudden growth spurt prior to the Festival, so I might give him another chance. I desperately tried to get back from work for 12 to see the race, but ended up watching it on 4+1. Sprinter Sacre’s stride is twice as long as all the other horses, and I just wondered if his legs might get in the way with all the Cheltenham undulations.
February 18, 2012 at 10:47 #392152I like this picture Moe,AP almost smiled!

February 18, 2012 at 11:41 #392168Is it just a coincidence that all the horses you took photos of had pretty handlers?

Funnily enough Joni I couldn’t believe just how attractive some of these Girls were,of course Doncaster gals are famous for making the effort to look good as are the Pontefract gals but the lasses walking the horses weren’t trying to impress but they caught my eye for sure,by the way its no coincidence that they all posed for me either!

Just look at the eye contact Joni,
Menorah
looks well miffed after his fall but his lass took the time for a smile still! Its called ‘Charisma’!
