Gord are you starting to belive me when i said SIR DES CHAMPS will be a top class at 3m. because i remember earlier in season you felt he be a Ryanair horse.Even before he jumped a fence i knew he be top class i think 3m is what he needs he is so strong at the end of his races.
Well done on Calgary Bay as well
And thank you for the nice words from you in my thread as well.Had
Flemenstar as well todayAnd i open a new thread in the notebook forum call the Notebook. i hope you let me know your thoughts on the thread as well.Where i put horses who be future stars. And who i think will win next time out.
January 29, 2012 at 21:58 #388984If it wasn’t for Calgary Bay then the only bets you’d be having at this rate are those £1 super 15s you put your almost horses on. I was checking an old thread KF(i enjoyed it). I know Gerald dissapeared, but where did CheltenhamSpecialist get to ? ….he hasn’t posted for a long time
Superman,I bet in running everyday, either laying or playing but until you are actually watching what unfolds in front of you its impossible to predict what you will do beforehand.Any bet i post on here you can be sure i will have backed it on the machine too.ocassionally laying off in running to protect my stake.
Cheltenham Specialist
was a quality poster who never got the recognition he deserved,he was in fact ‘The Worlds Greatest Tipster’ i enjoyed the craic with him.

Darren, when have I ever doubted you?
I believe connections ofSir Des Champs
will go for the Jewson this year and train him with the Gold Cup in mind next year.Personally i see this fellow is blessed with speed and so i’d be confident of the Jewson come March but the Ryanair would be my idea for next year,he really is tailormade to win it for his owner who just happens to sponser the race!
January 30, 2012 at 09:23 #389012Awesome pics of Calgary Bay mate and what a ride from Dominic Elsworth, 2 weeks on the trot after all his troubles and that within the yard

I backed the 2nd as i thought it was a tad too soft for Calgary Bay on the day but thankfully had the RFC. Why I deserted Calgary Bay i do not know as i’ve stayed loyal for sooooo long!!
Best result for me was Midnight Chase (worth a stone more round Chelts) and also covered that with the RFC with Tidal Bay!
A few of my ante post bets went for a burton though, Five Dream looked lack lustre, Sea of Thunder was desparate and has convinced me the Irish will win most of the novice hurdles this season and maybe the chases too!
Sir Des Champs may not be good enough this season but looks a grand type for next season and the ones after

Pearl Swan winning the Triumph trial did not tell us much as he was not even on the radar at Nicholls yard! They have better at home, just hope I got the right one with Dildar and it wont be the one he is sending to the Adonis

GDC,so long as
Boston Bob
goes for the ‘Neptune’ I wouldn’t be put off
Sea of Thunder
winning the ‘Albert Bartlett’ at all on yesterdays performance. This fellow is bred for the flat rather than jumping and the ground was like a bog at Leopardstown, granted good ground and a step back up to 3 miles he is still the one to beat come Cheltenham, his Sire ‘Old Vic’ ran a superb race in the 1990 King George at Ascot being beaten by his stablemate ‘Belmez’ who had only beaten that years Derby winner ‘Quest for Fame’ at Chester and his Grandsire ‘Supreme Leader’ was a proper Guineas horse being placed behind ‘Shadeed’ and ‘Bairn’ in the 1985 race, the best thing about yesterdays result is the fact he’s drifted out to 16/1! Get On!
January 30, 2012 at 10:12 #389015On a day when the chances of missing a good thing by dint of the cornucopia of interesting races is all too likely,
For the purpose of this thread I’m staying loyal to another somewhat frustrating character in
Poquelin
today,at 8/1 I have the security of 3 places,he is the class horse in the race imo.
Poquelin
£100 e/w 8/1 Bet365 2.05pm Cheltenham.
January 30, 2012 at 10:15 #389017‘Sky Bet Chase’ at Doncaster declarations were made today for the end of the months showpiece over 3m around a course
Calgary Bay
has sauntered round before with top weight.I expect him to turn up with top weight again and hopefully give the 7lb to this ‘Hold on Julio’ of Alan Kings,at 14/1 with the sponsors i just cant resist a dabble on one of my old favs,i can see him going for the 3m ‘Festival Handicap’ afterwards before another tilt at the ‘National’.Here’s hoping!
Calgary Bay
£100 e/w 14/1 Sky Bet, Sky Bet Chase Doncaster.
£7450January 30, 2012 at 10:35 #389018Before i even got round to sorting my photographs out on Saturday having got back from my Mission to Doncaster,I always check my accounts, having got it in my head i’d backed
Calgary Bay
with Bet365 i was a bit concerned the winnings hadn,t gone in. I have never had a problem with them before so Panic wasn’t setting in! A quick phone call though and the alarm bells are ringing,i hadn’t backed him with them!
5 accounts later and thankfully i find it was with the sponsers, hindsight should have told me they were the only Bookies to price the race up at the time, its not the first time i’ve done but i shall make sure its the last, its a sickly feeling!
Having put upSoldatino
at 20/1 for the Betfair Hurdle I need to include him in the thread but not for the first time again i haven’t!
However i feel very confident about this fellows chances,he too travels with plenty of zest and Barry will defineately be on him so he’ll keep a little bit up his sleeve then quicken away from the last, its nice when you know what a horse can do and how he’ll do it!
Soldatino
£150 e/w 12/1,Bet365, Betfair Hurdle.
£7750
January 30, 2012 at 11:56 #389026Winner of the first race at Doncaster,he really caught my eye in the paddock as he’s got chaser written all over him.
Alasi
trained by Paul Webber.

January 30, 2012 at 12:39 #389034Good snaps Gordon, though I don’t think Alasi will be happy with you calling her a boy

Poor bunch of mares that have gone over fences this year to be fare, EBF mares race at Newbury could be a target having won two EBF novice chases this season she’d be a shoe in, aside from Emmaslegend can hardly be a danger to her!
Lovely performance from Calgary Bay, glad to see your loyalty rewarded mate

I too thought Sea Of Thunder ran a perfectly respectable race at the weekend. The conditions he’ll likely get at Cheltenham will be a world apart and I was surprised some firms went 20/1 for Cheltenham after the race. Paddy Power only 10/1 though

The only problem is a horse called Mount Benbulben!
January 30, 2012 at 16:24 #389066RE Cheltenham Specialist:
I last received an email form him on the 27th of December when he was well and still backing winners
January 30, 2012 at 16:30 #389067Good to read CheltenhamSpecialist is doing ok.

KF is certainly taking the new photo of the year awards seriously….

Sorry tb!
Worse than that though was i’d got it in my head the greatOh So Sharp
was a boy too after She’d won her maiden at Nottingham I asked Ladbrokes for a price for the 2000gns! Thankfully i was big pals with the girls behind the counter back then and was told i could have 25/1 for the 2000 or 10/1 for the 1000 as He was a She!
I still get a bit confused when i’m in Thailand but thats another story!

Agreed Nath, ‘Cheltenham Specialist’ had his own slant on things and I for one benefited from his contributions,Tommy tell him we’re asking for him mate please and Yes you are quite right about this bloody
Mount Benbulben
but if this
Sea of Thunder
is as good as we think he’ll be in the shake-up for sure.
January 30, 2012 at 17:29 #389074just hope I got the right one with Dildar and it wont be the one he is sending to the Adonis

Unless Nicky Henderson is keeping something under wraps I’m prepared to go with you GDC into battle with this
Dildar
of Pauls, for the Triumph hurdle, his breeding is impeccable and if money talks then someones shouting as he’s been heavily supported from 16’s to 10’s in the last 48hrs,fingers crossed for a bold show tomorrow!
Dildar
£100 e/w 12/1 Corals,Triumph hurdle Cheltenham.
