I try to second guess Dandy too, got Evens and Odds right last year the week before Pricewise tipped him up (Goodwood or Ascot i think) and that paid for the skiing holiday

Well done there! Did you ever read that one GDC?
May 17, 2011 at 11:20 #355797I’m off down to my local course for a couple of hours now to see if Mr Grumpy,(Frankie) can maintain his popularity with the regulars and give them a winner, his strike rate here is phenomenal,i like the look of the breeding of
Universal
,a Chestnut Dubawi colt out of a Giants Causeway dam, 5/2 anyone?
May 17, 2011 at 13:45 #355811Wow, very very well done indeed, you must have loved that race

I am not certain but didn’t the other horse get 2nd???
I see Hughes/Hannon won that race at 16s, what a price
May 17, 2011 at 13:47 #355812Burwaaz got 5 stars in Steve Taplin’s book and Ed Dunlop said he’s the most precocious horse they’ve got in the yard. Thought he got up and I’m gutted that yet again I’ve been done in a close finish, especially by a Hannon/Hughes 16/1 Kheleyf first-timer. If that horse doesn’t win next time out and prove to be the best horse in the race then I know nothing about racing.

Burwaaz
was the horse to take from the meeting Zarkava so you have no worries there! He should have won,Richard Hills defineately had an issue with his reins about 10yds from the line from where i was stood you would have said he dropped his hands but a replay on the big screen showed he nearly took the right hand rein over the horses head, the horse defineately eased up. He then got beat in another photo which he should have won if only he went a bit faster on
Baqaat
,instead of clocking a ridiculously slow time, almost 7secs slower than standard on firm ground! The race he did win was on a horse who should have been beaten,
Mashaaref
in another photo finish, the 2nd was badly impeded a furlong out and it cost it the race.5 photo finishes from 7 races today and guess what i was beaten again in one,Dandys
Dr Red Eye
.Nottingham is still the best course in the country for a days racing imo, even when i lose!
May 17, 2011 at 19:14 #355866You’re on a good run lately Gord, keep it up!
May 17, 2011 at 20:04 #355880Hey TAPK,how about you and Thehorsesmouth continuing your challenge to see who the best tipster is then? My money would be on Thehorsesmouth.Only joking. You are still a great read.

It looked like he had a bit of a nightmare, especially in the final furlong. The horse clearly has a huge amount of potential so not point beating him for the sake of a race like this. He’s the first horse Ed Dunlop’s put up in 3 years in Taplin’s Fifty to Follow, so I’m expecting a lot of him. Certainly wouldn’t be surprised for him to go to Ascot and run into a place in the Coventry.
May 17, 2011 at 21:14 #355893This
Burwaaz
stood out in the paddock Zarkava,he was relaxed and imposing, completely different to the favourite Universal, who was very jig joggy and keen,it was about this time last year that
Elzaam
made his debut and then went on to contest the Coventry and i can see this fellow doing the same thing,he certainly looks like a colt who will excel at 6f,i just hope Richard Hills can this year!
May 18, 2011 at 08:21 #355905I have had just the one bet today in Goodwoods 4,20,what used to be known as the Predominate Stakes, the last Derby trial.I am convinced
Picture Editor
needs this trip and his gallop with Frankel in the Greenham the other day will have shaken off the cobwebs,4/1 with Corals seems very generous to me,i dont see why Badeel should be a 6/4fav,his win at Nottingham was pleasing to the eye the other day but his time was poor, this
Masked Marvel
is another who will improve for a step up in trip,Mr Gosden will be using him as a marker for his real St Leger horse,Nathaniel.
Picture Editor
£280 win 4/1 Corals, Goodwood 4,20pm.
£2500
May 18, 2011 at 09:38 #355911KF: Cannot believe the price of Picture Editor at all. The fav is getting hammered on oddschecker and PE is drifting alarmingly! I shall wait until lunchtime and let the dust settle, out to 9/2 with Stan James and others currently but looks the best horse in the race by miles!! Frankies horse won a bad handicap and the Hannon one prefers big fields and a fast pace.
Crazy market today in this race
May 18, 2011 at 10:13 #355912Hi KF
First just like to say what a great job your doing and may the winners continue!
About the 4.20 at goodwood today,
I thought you may have given a mention toAuld Burns
?
He has improved markedly since stepping up in trip and holds 2 of the runners on his most recent outing includingMasked Marvel
. Maybe the only thing against him is the track?
Any time for thoughts appeciated.
Keep up the good work.
StaffyMay 18, 2011 at 13:01 #355941Staffy,dont let me put you off Auld burns today as this game is all about opinions but i think Masked Marvel will improve past Auld burns due to the step up in trip, unlike you i’m not so sure Auld burns will appreciate this further trip thats why he was the first horse i discounted,i even think that Namibian will beat him today! I am convinced the Nathaniel form with
Picture Editor
is the best on offer today and that Masked Marvel is the long term ‘Cup’ horse in the race! Watch your horse hose in now!
May 18, 2011 at 13:59 #355950Ok thanks KF for the clarification.
Personally i’m more interested in how someone arrives at their selection than the selection itself (i.e. how they see the form). Its good to here other peoples opions as i’d like to be able to pick winners out as readily as someone like yourself!
All the best, im sure Auld Burns will lose by a furlong!May 18, 2011 at 14:02 #355951KF: Cannot believe the price of Picture Editor at all.
Crazy market today in this raceGDC, when i looked at the race last night on the RP website
without any prices marked up,my initial reaction was 2/1Picture Editor
would be nice as i certainly made him favourite in my world, all i can think is the odds compilers are using Richard Hannons Measuring time as the marker horse,i personally am using Genius Beast as i see him as a progressive sort who wants 11/2m,its a fascinating little race,i just hope mine is not another Bullet Train who looked like a quality horse in the making but has since finished stone cold last more times than its won! We’ll see shortly.
Staffy,my main concern with Auld Burns is he hasn’t clocked a time that says ‘one to watch’ he did run a good race when he was 6th behind I love me in the Tattersal Millions at Newmarket when giving the winner a stone in weight, his form to me looks that of a decent handicapper in the making, not a Derby winning Gelding!
May 18, 2011 at 14:25 #355959I’ll take 4’s about Picture Editor thank you very much, should be the class horse in the race, trip should suit also.
Fingers crossed.
May 18, 2011 at 14:37 #355961Pants: Joes are going 9/2 if you have an account with them
