Good evening everyone.
The focus of attention switches to Celtic Manor this week for the latest renewal of the Ryder Cup, first question i suppose has to be can the European contingent reclaim the Trophy,i for one think they can but for the purpose of having an investment the Top Points Scorer from both teams is always worth a look.
For the Europeans Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell are two that i feel could do well as for the USA providing the euphoria of winning Golfs biggest pot last week has not left it’s mark then Jim Furyk ably backed up by Steve Stricker are strong contenders for me.
Will have a look at other opportunities but at present the afore mentioned will be having some of the hard earned sent there way.
Any other thoughts will be appreciated.
Cheers for now.
Adrian.
September 28, 2010 at 18:26 #319901I like Donald and Fisher for the Europeans at 10/1 and 14/1 respectively, whilst for the USA I like Cink at around 16/1.
September 28, 2010 at 18:50 #319912Donald’s form and record make him one to watch. Pity Casey isn’t here, he would have been points in the bag. The Molinari boy’s will not lose a foursome or fourball, and like the prospect of Fisher/Poulter, NcDowell/McIlroy and expect Stricker/Woods to play well together if chosen.
September 29, 2010 at 21:20 #320098Normally Europe does well in the fourballs but I am worried that the US team has so many ‘birdie machines’ that they look very strong in that format.
US is 7/4 to win the Friday morning fourballs and I think that price is miles out…even money would be nearer.September 29, 2010 at 21:47 #320106I think Dustin Johnson will make a big impact. Despite his major disappointments in the US Open and PGA, he has had a successful season, and I think he is a good bet to be top point scorer if he is on form. He was also unbeaten in both foursomes matches in the 2007 Walker Cup, halving one of his matches with Rory McIlroy.

September 30, 2010 at 08:37 #320140I drove past Celtic Manor yesterday (the hotel overlooks the M4 and could double for a prison!) and it was really very wet.
With plenty more rain forecast, I reckon the two keys this weekend will be length (no roll on the fairways) and luck, in finding a dry lie. The rough is likely to be really tough when wet and none of the players will enoy putting on waterlogged greens.
Add in preferred lies on the fairway, wet compressed sand in the bunkers, and water hazards bursting their banks, and the event looks more a lottery than a test of skill. A test of patience as well, as fourballs in the rain will take close to six hours if they go the distance.
Not an ideal betting scenario.

September 30, 2010 at 12:41 #320166I fancy America to win and I’m backing Mickelson, top points scorer.

Not bad prediction in hindsight, should have actually backed them! D’oh!
