Another good race at Lingers, although Magical Memory is now a non-runner.
There is plenty of pace on offer here, with much of it drawn wide. Mazzini, Mythmaker, Caspian Prince and Gifted Master all tend to be ridden forward.
I think you’ve got to be looking for hold-up horses. Spring Loaded is the obvious one from a good draw. Previously an all-weather specialist, he upped his game on turf recently and might have even more to come back on the artificial. I’ll have a good win-only on him tonight and am also looking to back Royal Birth. I think it’s a bit harsh to write him off as a 5f horse since he hasn’t had many conclusive tries over 6f. From a good draw, with possible pace meltdown to suit, I think he’s quite fair at 14/1.
November 17, 2017 at 21:11 #1327183I’m glad there is interest in these all weather events on here. I like Spring Loaded but at a best priced 7/2 he’s just not giving me enough oomph and shazam to back him. Stall 8 may be an issue but then again he’s a hold up horse so if Joey Haynes can get him settled in a decent position then I expect him to come with a surging late run.
I know what you mean with Royal Birth, I think 6f is well in its grasp and I might regret going against him. I’ve gone for a small token on Clem Fandango at 12/1. She has to prove that she is capable of lasting the 6f but I think her last couple of runs have been more encouraging for the trip than previous efforts. She is related to good AW winners as well which is a bonus on her first attempt on the surface. Lets face it, I’ve been reeled in by the price, so I am going in fingers crossed more than in expectancy.
Good Luck
November 17, 2017 at 23:15 #1327207I think Mythmaker will won this with a decent draw a plus.
Personally the outside pace of Caspian and Gifted will actually help and make it harder for the hold up horses and to be honest i think Mazzini is the danger having ran over seven the last twice. I have backed both of them and had a rev forecast exacta as well.Good Luck Folks
November 18, 2017 at 01:31 #1327255I did Spring Loaded at 7/2 earlier.
You can ignore his last run, he is simply not a 5F horse. 6F and the all weather is his bag and the last five times he has run with those factors in place, he has won. This could easily be six and he’s my nap for Saturday.
As mentioned on another thread, I did John Gosden’s Utmost at 14/1 in the 2.10 Race. A one time 2000 Guineas entry it was said in April that he would not run again for a long time, as the Spring had not been kind to him. The trainer said they would back right off the horse to give him time. Having run 3rd, to a mark of 100, in the Newcastle Guineas trial when not at his best, I wondered if he may be better than his mark, and it’s interesting that he varies from 7/2 to 13/2 now, after being 14/1 on Thursday. The firm going 14/1 are 6/1 now. Gosden stable in excellent form.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
November 18, 2017 at 09:12 #1327297Gosden has a big say in that race having previously trained Sacred Act, now with Michael Bell. I backed both Sacred Act (7/2) and Utmost (13/2). I looked for prices on this Early Thursday evening but couldn’t find any. I would have snapped up 14s in a jiffy. Eagle Creek is the early marker mover into fav but I can’t see how that’s warranted on recent form. The market is unsure about Utmost, ranging from 5s to 15/2.
Clean Fandango has gone out to 16s which is a bugger. Spring Loaded into a general 3/1. Still thinking about it, he does love Lingfield.
I’ll give it more thought over a coffee and a kit kat
November 18, 2017 at 13:39 #1327385I’m on spring loaded as well
Hadn’t seen this thread when I posted on the other all weather race today..
November 18, 2017 at 14:17 #1327399As mentioned on another thread, I did John Gosden’s Utmost at 14/1 in the 2.10 Race.
Unlucky with that one Steve, you certainly demolished the SP!
November 18, 2017 at 15:23 #1327438Stall 12 the put off there. That was a difficult race to punt on.
