If Chezza did a 12 hour shift in your biscuit factory it would end up bankrupt …..biscuit

    If only Ian!

4 x 12 hour shifts in a row. Often bookended with a couple of overtime’s as well.

    Work sets you free

Just had a chance to watch Ahoy Senor on a decent sized screen and for all his jumping looked scrappy watching on my phone yesterday, it’s chalk and cheese compared with past races. He doesn’t seem to let an error put him off now and, for the first time over fences he kept his concentration throughout and looked well on the way to being a thorough professional.

Perhaps he has simply been a slow learner. From an experience viewpoint, I’m pretty sure he’ll come on a ton from yesterday, but I thought he had a hard race in the end and fear The Cotswold curse will hold good again this year in the Gold Cup, though I hope I’m wrong.

All the first four In the Cotswolds have earned the right to take part; they’ll add depth to the field. If any of them turn up on a really good day, jump well, get the run of the race, and something goes wrong with GDC or BMG, we could see another Cool Dawn or Lord Windermere. GDC could yet be a monster tho.

One problem for Ah Senor will be Frodon , also while he maybe able to jump round in a GC you need to use the fences to take ground off the competition , I just can’t see Ah doing that , in my eyes he’ll be a running on 3rd/4th at best

Galopin looks more and more like a gold cup horse

Given a quiet ride, completely relaxed all the way round

Was only getting going in the final 100 yards and took townend a good while to pull him up

Completely different horse to last year, the keeness and massive exuberant jumps that would’ve stopped him from staying 3m2f have gone

I’d still fancy a peak-form A Plus Tard against him.

I’d agree and he’s the other iv backed

But I’m not sure how likely it is a plus tard will be anywhere near his run last year

GDC did it well but not quite well enough to settle the doubts.

I am happy to just watch him win at 6/4 but he looks like the sort of favourite the bookmakers will take on. With the horses on their side, I can see them pushing him out on the morning of the race. Then he might become tempting.

It does look like Mullins has turned GDC into a stayer these days. The last furlong was his stongest.

That race was ran perfectly for him. Bookies are taking him on now because it does still leave questions to be asked.

I was more impressed with him today though than I ever have been. I’m on APT and BMG in a couple of doubles and lucky 15’s at lovely each way prices but APT is under a cloud from Haydock and in terms of fitness.

GDC has had the ideal prep that’s for sure. However his jumping is fiddly at best even at a slowly run race and that’s enough for me to think he won’t win.

If Nicholls gets BMG there in the same mood as kempton then he’s the most solid of all the options.

    You definitely can

If you can teach a horse to settle it will waste less energy at the start and consequently stay further than it would’ve been able too previously

Agree Tizz , What APT will then up , Indos form getting 8lbs from Stattler doesn’t look the greatest , BMG is the most solid option and he,s a lovely e.w price

FF that’s not making a horse stay , it’s teaching it not to waste energy , a horse can’t be made to stay , if you want an example look at at One Man …

Wasn’t impressed by his jumping today, possibly the stickiest I’ve seen from him, but the strength of his finish was impressive. A worthy fav, tho BMG better value
