He’s been a very popular horse the last year on here, and certainly generates a lot of debate, not least from Potato, who bloody loves him, so I thought it would make sense for him to have his own thread.

I fancied him for this years Gold Cup, and threw a few quid at him, but he couldn’t quite get there. I don’t see why he can’t go close next year though, obviously if he gets conditions to suit.

Elegant Escape has to be a huge player in the 2020 gold cup.

They all said he would be badly outpaced in the gold cup but would be running on at the end of the race better than anything.

Now the ground was faster than ideal yet approaching 2 from home he was in the front group of 6 horses and within 4 lengths of the lead. Going the pace was not a problem at all even on the quicker ground, he actually stayed THE WORST out of that group of 6 horses and lost ground AFTER the 2nd last.

This defeat was due to stable form yet it clearly shows us that he could go the pace and if the stable had of been in form rather than go out like a light and not stay up the hill he would have been thriving on it and probably would have won the race.

He can improve again next season (assuming they don’t ruin the horse by going grand national) and can do what native river did and win the race on the 2nd attempt. No question about it imo.

If stable form was the issue why did he get beaten 17 lengths by a stablemate?

All 3 tizzard horses were unplaced. They all ran below form. Native River won the race last year.

Thistlecrack and Native River are unlikely to ever win another race. The legend will be back bigger and better than ever next season. That’s unquestionable unless as stated they go national with the horse.

Here’s a question: how can you prove that right now?

Because next year the legend will be that good that even if Tizzard is in poor form he’d win anyway, that’s how good he is and how he gets legendary status….

How can anybody prove anything? It’s a racing forum it’s an opinion. If you want proof then wait til gold cup day 2020 evening and look on a results page.

This is a forum not a results page.

Let me flip the low grade question for you.

How can you prove the legend wont be back bigger and stronger and better than ever next year right now?

Easily potato, he wasnt a legend this year and he had shown no signa of becoming one next year, theres plent of proof of that on the “results page” as yo say

I’m not the one who said that it was “unquestionable”. You are.

Ahh so we’re doing a whole year of this again are we? Great stuff.

I’ll say it now Potato – He won’t win. He isn’t a ‘legend’. He’s just an above average staying chaser who’s too good for a handicapping campaign but not good enough to place in the best staying chases.

I must admit, I don’t agree with Potato but I do admire him and his thick skin. Why does he need ‘proof’ that Elegant Escape wins the Gold Cup? Like I say, I don’t think he will, but I’m happy for him to voice his opinion that he thinks he will. Why do we need proof? Why is it a problem that Potato is going to be championing Elegant Escape again this year. The topic took over last year because everyone (for whatever reason) got riled by the fact Potato had an opinion and decided to voice it. A lesser character would have long since quit the forum, more to the shame of anyone who gets on his back. Good for you Potato :good:

Big call Boz finally some.sense is spoken on the forum.

Just because I think Elegant Escape will win the gold cup next year has already created havoc and will lead to accusations that I have ruined the thread yet all I have done was make a valid case as to why EE should not be ruled out and all the usual suspects come out for a pop. I haven’t even done any poetry yet.
I will be having my own Elegant Escape thread this year so as to not offend the masses and face accusations of thread spoiling.

I’m all about the early 2yos for now though, the gold cup is a long way away.

The Nichols horse Topofthegame will be the long term favourite for the gold cup next season and looks the real deal. But dont worry the team have him covered. :rose:

    No boz

People including myself got riled up because anytime someone posted anything about another horse not even mentioning potato a massive reply came back from potato overshadowing what the previous person said

Was annoying as **** no ones opinion could be found, every post was a crock of sh*t about how this horse is the best to ever grace the game

Nothing wring with championing a horse and arguing your point back if someone questions it, he wouldnt shutjp even when people where not talking to him about EE theres a big difference.

Thanks VtC, definitely a good idea for EE to have his own thread for reams of poetry, flowers, any mention of any formline that is encouraging for his chances etc. Any evidence of poor runs, bad preps or dodgy formlines from his rivals for glory will, I’m sure, be very welcome on this thread throughout the coming year, but apart from that we can keep the other gold cup thread for all the crappy horses like Al Boum Photo.

    Hurrah for the future king!!

Not how I ever read it, Ham. I think we should cool the whole Potato argument unless he were to speak out of line on the matter. That’s my last word on it.

You must be about the only one boz, multiple people were in the same or close to the same opinion, hence the reason this thread has been created clearly, like i said champion a horse! Absolutely! But dont drown a thread with senseless pointless scriptures about mythical legends everytime someone wants to put there thoughts on someone who isnt the divine one when yhey atent directing a point to you, however, now that this threads here i wont need to worry about it! LOL

I think it’s a nice idea for Potato to have his own thread on EE. Like Boz I never got frustrated with Potato’s post. To be honest I quite admired the die hard loyalty and found the thread mildly amusing. The poetry might need a bit of work (just joking) but the passion for his horse was unquestionable. That said, I think a distinct thread for Potato and EE is probably the best for all concerned.

My favourite post from Potato in the lead up to Cheltenham was the one in which he detailed his complete portfolio of bets for Cheltenham- all of which were on one horse. Loved it – made me laugh out loud.
