sil conti is a class act, jumps and travels like a dream. to say he’s the lay of the meeting is just moronic.
That’s quite a statement coming from someone who wrote this earlier in the thread
as for the only other main contender, silviano conti, he’s one of the most improved horses in training, but for me has it all to prove at cheltenham. basically he’s been doing all his winning on flat tracks and will probably hack up at aintree afterwards, but he won’t be carrying my money.
And these two posts on the same page of the same thread
at the prices i’d probably be with rule the world.
certainly has the sort of name that suggests a cheltenham winner
as much as I like rule the world, the new one must be the bet here. rule the world has never run on anything better than yielding.
All over the shop.
March 5, 2013 at 01:42 #431362true but I do change my mind a lot

Crikey, is it not enough just analysing the race, never mind analysing members postings ?

It is when you call someone else’s opinion moronic but have basically agreed with their summary in another post.
March 5, 2013 at 12:05 #431390Imperial Commander out of the race – from connections. No reason why as yet.
Real shame this news. Couldnt see him winning, but he’d have put up a damn good show.March 5, 2013 at 12:21 #431392Imperial Commander out of the race – from connections. No reason why as yet.

March 5, 2013 at 12:36 #431397true but I do change my mind a lot
Aye EGS1, next you’ll be changing your mind over your Dark Horse and giving us My Tent Or Yours
March 5, 2013 at 17:25 #431419I’m gutted by this news, not only because I backed him at 66s but I was looking forward to seeing one of my fave horses in this great race…he may be OK in time for Aintree, but wouldn’t count on it.
Silviniaco Conti it is then!
March 5, 2013 at 19:45 #431429I’ve been thinking about this quite a lot and trying to compare the form lines of Silviano Conti beating long run in the betfair chase (who in turn beat champion court in the King george) and then bobs worth beating First Lieutenant in the hennessey who was just ahead of Sir Des Champs in the Lexus.
SDL also beat champion court in last years Jewson but by less of a distance than LR beat him in the king george. I know the ground will obviously be a factor but an interesting thought non the less and I think it all comes down to Silviano Conti and Bobs Worth but still very much undecidedMarch 5, 2013 at 22:36 #431439Long Run will be available with Hills tomorrow at 10/1 from 9am, got to be worth a e/w as he’s never been outside the first 3 in his career?

my apologies, but jjmsports did have a pop at me on another thread and i’ve had a bee in my bonnet about it since. I probably shouldn’t have been so juvenile but I don’t tend to have a go at someone unless they attack me first, at least that’s my excuse
I take your point about changing your mind, to be honest I spend too long on here I forget what I post half the time, then i change my mind and write something which contradicts something I said earlier, which you picked up on.
probably i’m too obsessed with this whole cheltenham lark and have become addicted to discussing it, oh well it’ll be over soon
March 13, 2013 at 22:26 #432578I’m starting to lean more and more towards bobs worth for this. (yes I know i’ve changed my mind about 100 times already but that’s normal for me)
tough battler who ticks every box. sticks his head down, the complete opposite of ungenuine.
take a look at his win in the hennessy. his jumping was scratchy and novicey at times. at one point I thought I had done my money but it was remarkable how quickly he went from looking as if he was struggling to back on the bridle. he has a load of pace for a staying chaser.
He get’s the job done where it matters which is what you need in these championship races.
his jumping may not be footperfect but you could say the same about sprinter sacre today, and simonsig yesterday. sometimes if they make mistakes its not a bad thing. i’m more wary of the type of horse who "never touches a twig"
I have a feeling if he jumps around ok his burst of speed at the end will just kill this lot.
of course sir des champs is respected but i’m feeling more and more that the argument that has been widely aired about him being overrated, and that his form doesn’t match up to bobs worth, contains more than a grain of truth.
also although the fact the ground is drying out will help his jumping, I can’t help but feel that he might also get rather outpaced at the end of the race. he’s an out and out slogger and I can’t see him living with bob’s worth’s turn of foot at the end.
silviano conti jumps nimbly enough but I noticed in his videos that he gets tired at the end, and I feel theres a danger his jumping will fall apart if bobs worth puts it up to him. besides nicholls is not exactly on fire this week…
March 14, 2013 at 14:40 #432715I’ve been with Bobs Worth all year but Sir Des Champs reminds me of Boston Bob with his races this season and given the improvement he showed until falling yesterday and the form of the Mullins horses I’m becoming increasingly scared of SDC.

March 14, 2013 at 15:19 #432722gigginstown stud haven’t had any luck though and losing davy russell is a big blow, I wouldn’t be too worried.
March 14, 2013 at 20:55 #432773OK cutiepies, time to close your eyes. Following my superb Chelters Nap on the sublime Zarkander…I give you my NB of the festival.
SIR DES CHAMPS
Ground and trip is exactly what it wants, I would have preferred Davy Russell, and I don’t know much about the deputy.
This horse has been truly primed for one day, and we know the trainer’s horses are rocking.
It’s a brave call, but I think he can outpace Bob’s Worth where it matters. Those two for the RFC.
Personally, I cannot have Long Run (who seems quite popular among pundits and punters) or any of the others, though I can see Giant Bolster running a respectable race.
I
need
a winner!!!

March 14, 2013 at 22:43 #432798Well, I said at the start of the season that I’d follow Wayward Prince [not realising he’d end up in the Gold Cup]. Therefore, having missed out on a 50/1 winner today [was following all of Venetias horses but missed that one…and with Liam on board as well!] I can’t ignore an ew on WP at 100/1 [still searching for the 100/1 winner]. And, after such an awful day today I feel Cheltenham needs one of it’s occasional fairytale wins.
March 14, 2013 at 22:57 #432803At the moment my prices to 100% are:
Sir Des Champs 100/30
, Bobs Worth 100/30, Silviniaco Conti 9/2,
Long Run 5/1
,
The Giant Bolster 15/1
, Cape Tribulation 16/1, Captain Chris 20/1, Sunnyhillboy 100/1, Monbeg Dude 400/1, Wayward Prince 500/1
Could change with rain. My price for Sir Des would lengthen with rain, with Long Run and Bobs Worth shortening.
