Does anyone know the reason that Ocean War was ridden by Barzalona today rether than Dettori ?
I understand that it wasn’t trained by bin Suroor, but have I missed something about their riding arrangements and is Barzalona based here now and sharing the rides ?
Thanks in anticipationApril 13, 2011 at 22:11 #350192agree Coggy , Frankie was there , and in truth this Kid looks like his replacement , looks like Frankie will be seeing a lot of this kid from the sidelines
A good horse as well , he simply cantered in ….

April 14, 2011 at 07:27 #350212Most of the Godolphin horss from this trainer have been ridden by Ahmed Ajtebi in recent seasons, so it’s him that Barzalona has replaced.
Dettori has only ridden about 10% of the Al Zarooni runners, mainly when they appear in group races – for example Dettori always rode Rewilding.

April 14, 2011 at 08:36 #350216Barzalona is retained by the Wertheimer Brothers in France (according to yesterdays RP) and is attached to the Fabre yard – fortunately Fabre has two very very good young French jockeys and I hope that MB is eventually the replacement for Dettori.
April 14, 2011 at 16:56 #350271barcelona look like a artist in the saddle…like a young Dettori
Also this Zarooni guy can really train….really impressed with the set up this fella has compared to the other guy/donkey in Suroor. Seems to have a good back room team who can get these unraced horses moving
April 15, 2011 at 08:55 #350359Barzalona looks very sharp indeed, much in the same mould as young Will Buick. Anything instead of Ajtebi is an improvement! He has two jobs in France though, so won’t be around in England long.

LOL.
2YO’s 2010 –
Suroor – 40/115 @ 35%
Al Zarooni – 31/191 @ 16%
Never let the facts get in the way of heat of the moment perceptions.
April 15, 2011 at 12:32 #350379Perhaps a more relevant statistic is last 12 months figures of all ages on turf
bin Suroor 76 wins from 425 i.e. 17.8%
al Zarooni 47 winners from 288 i.e. 16.3%Having said that bin Suroor has a better record on the all weather but I have little interest in that sphere.
I think that it would be interesting to know how the horses are allocated between the two before I would wish to pass comment on who is doing the best etc
April 15, 2011 at 18:54 #350413I think a more valid point is the fact that the Godolphin horses have not lacked any track work due to bad weather in Dubai, unlike any of the Newmarket trainers.
April 15, 2011 at 19:42 #350419Zarooni is training newmarket maiden winners…..not redcar and folkestone maiden winners like suroor
April 16, 2011 at 10:53 #350516in 2010:
Suroor
:
1/4 (25%) at Folkestone (0/0 with 2yo’s)
1/5 (20%) at Redcar (1/2 with 2yo’s)Al Zarooni
:
1/4 (25%) at Folkestone (1/3 with 2yo’s)
1/5 (20%) at Redcar (1/4 with 2yo’s)Ascot in 2010:
Suroor
6/24 (25%)
Al Zarooni
0/17 (0%)
Newmarket:
Suroor
10/67 (15%)
Al Zarooni
7/47 (15%)
Lets not worry about facts.

April 16, 2011 at 11:39 #350529Damn you all and your stats

My Point….is simples…..Zarooni is going to beat Suroor out the door this year. For a guy just getting into British racing last year to move in the right direction so quick with Rewilding their first proper Derby runner in years.
I dont need to ask how much horse flesh has gone missing in Newmarket with Suroor

LOL. Lies, lies, and damn stats …….. Rewilding was an easy one. He arrived fit and ready from the Fabre yard. Few better "pre-trainers" around.
April 16, 2011 at 16:12 #350582Oh look another winner by Zarooni at a proper track in Laajooj. Newmarket and now Newbury
