Dear Librettist,
That is the question. How many have cut it as you put it in Europe ,or England over the last five years? How many have won Group One races in England that they have baught at auction? We don’t count horses that won Group One races before going to Godolfin(New Approach). How many home bred Godolfin horses have achieved success?Considering where they started from and where Coolmore started from the difference is enormous.Perhaps you should define what "cut it" means?May 9, 2009 at 17:17 #226516New Approach never went to Godolphin.
May 9, 2009 at 20:40 #226545Godolphin may have their knockers, but the ex Mark Johnston trained Mastery, now in Godolphins ownership, has just won the 800,000 Euros Italian Derby today at Rome with Frankie Dettori on board:

Perhaps you should define what "cut it" means?Cut it = make the grade in their opinion.
And Mastery, who as mentioned just won the Italian Derby, is a home bred.

May 13, 2009 at 01:03 #227213I think Godolphin over the recent years have stopped sending 500,000 gns horses to the likes of hamilton and warwick for cheap prizes. They used to and had so many flops. If one of their expensive sorts cant cut the mustard it goes straight to stud as potential breeding. This is dangerous to racing as it could lower the breeds of the future perhaps. That is why we have the 1000, 2000 gns Derby, Oaks etc I believe all horses should prove their worth on the racecourse first to promote the best of breed and not be elected because they were a disappointing over priced yearling that never ran.

Any examples equus?
May 13, 2009 at 05:51 #227262The Italian Derby was reduced to Group Two class for lack of qualified(Group One) winners or entries I believe.
May 13, 2009 at 07:28 #227264Do thoroughbreds find it difficult to adapt to the Godolphin methodology of conditioning and racing?
Once the "wintering in Dubai" idea was implemented, Sheikh Mohammed was considered a visionary. Now judges are arguing that particular method as the source of their recent troubles.
Then there’s cracks appearing w/ the Saudi policeman as their trainer.
