Interesting to see in the Betfair Cup that Jimmy Fortune has been jocked off Infallible.
July 27, 2008 at 18:30 #175047I don’t think he’s been jocked off, I just don’t think he can make the 8-6, but I could be wrong.
July 27, 2008 at 18:38 #175048You’re right Fortune’s riding weight down as 8-9.
July 28, 2008 at 19:17 #175138Definately keen on Infallible for this race. Always a slight worry that she tends to come from behind but back to a perfect distance and going, could be class above the rest here
Molecomb is a great renewal. Was the Norfolk form let fdown alittle by Prolific? Im likely to go with Finjan. Newmarket win has worked out well and Sandown ground ws possibly against. Didnt settle well at Sandown but there will be bags of pace here Jargelle is a threat on this fast course
Considering Proponent in the first back to suitable distance
Is Conduit worth taking on???
July 28, 2008 at 19:39 #175140Could be a chance that Conduit gets beaten in the Gordon Stakes as Donegal could try and gun them from the word go then stack them up at the higest point about 5 1/2 furlongs from home then try and run the sting out.
Hebridean is giving 3 pounds to his rivals and will no doubt have the Doncaster Classic as his target and should run well.
Apart from that nothing else grabs me for Goodwood, its not a meeting i make much fuss over and i guess like GC the other festival at Galway is the main one.
Talking of which i do hope C4 show the Plate and Hurdle, The BBC did which was grand.

Is Conduit worth taking on???
I’d say that depends a great deal on the rainfall between now and then. Certainly, on Ascot’s fast ground it took him all day to build up a head of steam, much as it did on similar ground for his Newmarket debut.
With only Bougeureau likely to want the lead in what could well be a slowly run race, Conduit surely has to be vulnerable unless the heavens open.July 28, 2008 at 21:40 #175163Generally I don’t like backing fillies on their first time against colts in pattern company. Add in that Infallible is likely to be dropped out and that I have been less than impressed by a number of Ryan Moore’s rides of late and I want to be against Infallible. Il Warrd should get the run of the race, he’s likely to just sit of Dunelight travelling strongly and think he should get first run on most of the field. King of Dixie is a danger but for some reason, the trainer has decided he needs dropping out these days. Such tactics cost him at Newmarket and I’d be worried about them again.
Regarding Conduit, he is a good example of the sort of rideof Moore’s that has irked me. He got away with it when the horse was running off 85 in an Epsom handicap but didn’t get away with allowing Campanologist so muc rope. I think he is by far the best horse in tomorrow’s race and given a decent ride, I think he’ll win easily.
July 28, 2008 at 23:57 #175179Could be argued that Natagora has already upheld the fillies form against the colts DJ
July 29, 2008 at 11:45 #175209Will Infallible prove that she is more than fallible again ?
I won’t hear of defeat for Conduit.

July 29, 2008 at 13:12 #175219I’ve noticed that Paul Cole has been in pretty good form lately – couple of 2yo winners on Saturday, Percolator runing well on Sunday and Shampagne going in yesterday. I wonder if this is good news for Thunderous News today at Goodwood (his only runner). Ran two decent races before something looked to be not entirely right at Ascot. Given the stable form, I’d be prepared to give him a shout in the Molcombe even though his draw could’ve been kinder.

Don’t know if I’d agree with that. Donegal won’t want a dash for the line and often runs up with the pace, I wouldn’t mind a bit of evens that he’ll take them round. A lack of pace is surely the only worry for Conduit.
In the Lennox, I’m swithering whether to take a chance on Il Warrd at 7s. A soundly-run seven looks just what he needs, and I’m not entirely convinced a drop back in trip will solve all of Infallible’s problems.
