We have a situation now where Scenic Blast has won two G1 legs of the Global Sprint Challenge in two different countries.

For the USD 1 million bonus he now has to win also either the Sprinter Stakes at Nakayama on October 4 or the Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin on December 13:

To nab that bonus Sacred Kingdom would now have to win both of those plus the Patinack Farm at Flemington on 7 November.

On the SK thread Adrian indicated that the GSC was the reason for SK’s voluntary quarantine in the UK, but it seems likely his agenda now will be limited to the Japan and Hong Kong legs (given the significance for him of the HK race and the calendar pressures on his trainer at that time of the remaining Aus race) .

Would be good to see the Jubilee and July Cup winner(s) try for the bonus too. Scenic Blast doesn’t need the July Cup for the bonus but it would of course help with points for the GSC itself.

Possibly this year’s Wesley Ward involvement at Ascot might now lead to some US legs being added in future to the GSC.

    Wit,

You’ve pretty much summed it up. I met Mr Sin – he was delightful and very humble in defeat and I hope that Sacred Kingdom recovers his form for HK in December.

Scenic Blast and Takeover Target will definitely be running in the July Cup. Cannonball may stay on – Ken Ramsey is keen but Wesley just has to make up his mind in the morning before he ships all the 2yos home on Tuesday evening.

Obviously we’ll be adding some more Europeans to the mix for the July Cup and it looks as if Paco Boy may drop back in trip for it so will be tough for the Aussies.

J J The Jet Plane also definitely runs in the July Cup although, ultimately, he may step up to a mile.
