What is your take on him..?
Hannon’s horses seemed to have turned the corner of late and are running much better than a few weeks ago.I was impressed with Tony Curtis last year Nathan, when he won at Salisbury. Looked one with size to train on well too. Trouble is they decided to send him to Qatar for a Spring campaign and that probably set him back. Ran well enough in the Craven, very soft ground and making the running may not have suited there. Considering had 14 weeks off (not sure why) ran well in the Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood, not much room on inner and one of the last off the bridle. Could yet improve further if getting a truly run race, although there isn’t clear who’s going to set it here. Stable is (as is often the case with Hannon) in average form, not good, not bad. Just thought at 20/1 he’s over-priced.
Massaat should be difficult to beat, particularly if ridden near the pace. Forget the Derby form, didn’t settle/stay. Burrows is in excellent form at the moment. Would’ve been the main bet if it wasn’t for running on the firmest he’s encountered.
Do like Sovereign Debt, getting a really backable price. Seems bomb proof and can race prominently if needed. Most likely one to collect if anything happens to the fav.
Master The World is less consistent, but what price would his Goodwood conqueror, Franklin D be if he ran here? Master The World comes out the best horse there. Needs luck in running, but worth taking a chance at the price. It’s easy to under estimate top weihted Grade 2 handicap form when racing in listed/group 3’s. Even keeping an eye on Belgian Bill, just in case he goes three figures.
This race I have not much “in between”, horses are either really good/excellent prices and some (these next four) awful. Apparently a track record went yesterday and want to be against stayers at the trip and/or those who might be better on softer; Zonderland, Master Carpenter and Tullius. Tupi can’t seem to do anything right these days.
My 100% Book:
Massaat 20/21, Sovereign Debt 5/1, Master The World 17/2, Tony Curtis 14/1, Zonderland 16/1, Tullius 16/1, Belgian Bill 50/1, Tupi 100/1, Master Carpenter 100/1.Value Is EverythingAugust 11, 2016 at 02:04 #12594104:10 Salisbury
