Expected to be for Reaping The Reward (backed it at Sandown) and against Saint Are today. But there doesn’t seem to be much pace in the race. Night In Milan and Saint Are the most likely to be up there, Tom George in good form and Saint Are usually runs better in the Spring, possibly being brought along steadily for Aintree, but worth taking a chance at double figure prices. Night In Milan a Donny specialist, both main selections go well on goodish ground. Godsmejudge usually tracks or races mid-div, looks like on his way back, but this might be too much of a test of speed if they don’t go a good pace. Reaping The Reward has a great chance on “form”, but in contrast to his previous runs is from a stable struggling for form and usually held up, so race may not go his way either.Value Is EverythingFebruary 24, 2016 at 15:46 #1235027^ Having said that. Because I don’t do national hunt or group races I was thinking of following you, Is just betting your best priced horse (one selection) sufficient to show profit at the end of the season? For instance today Alberobello @ 8/1 do you do more selections to keep down swings to a minimum? How do you set up a post alert for the thread?
Thanks! Sam

Sorry, I don’t have a clue about how to set up an alert. May be Matron or Cormack know?
I’ve never worked out if just betting my best priced horse is sufficient to show a profit Sam; but be amazed if it isn’t. Would mean much longer losing runs but you’re obviously well aware of that. You’re dead right, the reason I back all horses I believe are value instead of just the best value bet is to reduce swings to a minimum… And confidence. Find if going through a long losing run my confidence goes and that – in turn – seems to affect my workings out. ie Coming to the wrong conclusion about who is and who is not a value/good bet.
An alternative could be to cut out all the saver bets, although…
If looking at last Saturday’s results, I had 3 winners from 4 races, Vyta Du Roc, Sausalito Sunrise and Silviniaco Conti, but they were ALL saver bets so I made a loss on the day! But had I not had saver bets it would be 4 losing races from 4. However, could well be overall that backing my best priced selection (or cutting out savers) amounts to bigger profits (because when winning it doesn’t lose any/as much of the profit and when losing it doesn’t lose as much). If choosing to do this method Sam, let me know how it goes.
