Amother disappointing day’s racing tomorrow. But there does look to be one possibile race at a massive price. Possibly another bet to come at shorter odds.

Tricky race. Can see why Sunny Legend has been backed, may well get a soft lead, though didn’t show much last time. Son Of Suzie’s trainer is in form, might jump better in this smaller field and if so has a good chance. But will need all of this trip even in this ground to produce his best. Latter comment also applies to Rosa Fleet. After last time out am surprised an increase in trip wasn’t on the cards for her. At the prices – possible slow pace puts me off both Son Of Suzie and Rosa Fleet. Cloudy Bob doesn’t win often enough for me, I have doubts about his temperament. So process of elimination leads me to Kings Cross who seems a consistent sort. Fact he’s often a hold up horse is a bit of a negative, but worth a chance at the price.51 points @ 7/2 (WH) Kings Cross* (min 3/1)

Sunny Ledgend has course and heavy ground form as well as stamina to keep going up that hill.
January 7, 2016 at 15:33 #1228671I backed it! Problem is I have no idea why [think I decided that on such awful ground it might be worth risking a few outsiders]. Didn’t work in the following race, though

Agreed Softie, SL was always going to get a fairly soft lead too. I played too much attention to a below par reappearance. I know overall there’s been research that says front runners have a better strike rate than those just behind them (prominent but not front runners); and they in turn have a better strike rate than those who race mid-div, who in turn have a better strike rate than hold up horses; who in turn do better than those held up…
I’d be surprised if that front runners advantage is not even bigger on heavy ground.

You only need to back the odd winner at that price Moehat.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 7, 2016 at 20:16 #1228715Not when you use your winnings to have a lot of stupid bets afterwards. I had 16/1.10/1 and 12/1 winners today and a 25/1 second but still ended the day down. I’m having such fun though!

2 horse race in my view, especially with that N/R confirmed.
I’m siding more with Iron Butterfly due to stamina, I don’t think 7lb will do too much, he was well handicapped when he easily won that last race, whether or not that was by 7lb remains to be seen. Donna’s Pride is obviously the main threat, but it’ll be sticky ground and I think the safer bet would be with Iron Butterfly. Decent pace over 3 miles aswell so I have no concern that she’ll not have the pace.
What are your thoughts?
Also, I notice you mentioned a blog. I can design/create the blog for you (or a website if you wanted to pay for a domain). Let me know if you need any help.

Fingers crossed Sabelex
Iron Butterfly’s improvement/win last time came here over further and better ground, but has some good form some time ago on heavy. Should be suited by a test at this trip and hopefully (now Magic Money is out) can get the lead.
Donna’s Pride usually runs prominently but seldom leads. Reveleys had the first winner and is the obvious danger, should act in conditions. Just doubt whether he’s got as much improvement in him. imo poor price.
Weakness in the market is a little worrying for Fountains Blossom. She’s usually a hold up horse and appeared to be given too much to do more than once. Like Iron Butterfly seemed to improve over further. Again, going should bring out stamina, but there is a slight doubt about whether he’ll act on it. imo the price of around 4/1 makes it worth taking a chance.
imo Those three should be considerably shorter than Taylor (5/1???). Only 6th of 11 in similar conditions at Carlisle last time.
Kashtaree hasn’t got much recent form at all and am doubtful she’ll stay. However, has run best races ridden prominently. Held up of late. Stable is in good form at the moment, something I do look for. Return to prominent tactics and I might play in-running at a massive price.

Thanks for the offer Sebalex, but my brother works in the computer software business so if I do decide to go down that route already got somewhere to go.
Iron Butterfly.

No worries, great stuff! I thought I’d offer as I’ve just moved up to Chesterfield, 30 miles from my previous so have no friends/life and will have plenty of spare time!
At a canter as well! Another good shout, nicely done.

I’ve been at my place 20+ years and still no friends/life.
