Decent outcome yesterday Ginge, as i thought the amount of rain that fell turned things somewhat sloppy under hoof making it more of a lottery.
Far from it Softie. When conditions are like that it’s not a lottery. Fitness is a massive help, of course vast majority are “fit”, but horses coming from yards in blinding form have an even bigger edge, Henderson, Hobbs and V. Williams. Acting on very Heavy ground is obviously a big factor, but – if anything – more important is the ability to stay further than the trip they’re running over… Allied to (at Sandown) course form. How the hell was that Gitane thing so short? Really should have had Soll as a main bet though.
Put the same theory to the test in Plumpton’s 2:40. YES Plumpton!
Gorgehous Lliege coming off three PU’s!!! Does have a mind of his own (cheek pieces for first time) and there are more front runners in the race than I’d like… But Venittia is in cracking form and a return to Fontwell Southern National winning form should see him go close. Took 10/1, now 7’s (EDIT: make that 6’s). Dawson City will be hard to beat though, again stamina, stamina, stamina. I’ve included Finish The Story, another with a “P” against his name. Just in case they allow him a soft lead. Had nothing left after bad mistake/setting a strong pace. Distances of three of eight who finished 16 and 25 lengths. Nail’M’s a non-runner now.Next bets tonight for tomorrow’s 1:35 Ludlow.

All that time spent working and I don’t get paid.Value Is EverythingJanuary 3, 2016 at 16:34 #1228260Well that`s marvellous then Ginge., i shall be praying for biblical weather all the time from now on as you seem to have it all covered and every heavy ground race put up will make us loads of money
January 3, 2016 at 18:59 #1228308It’s the ‘Earth Summits National’ situation isn’t it. Even the bumper at Naas was won by a ‘Pivotal’! Other than Roselier which sires/damsires are the best when conditions are like this??

Not too much rain Softie, want some racing to be on!

January 4, 2016 at 01:47 #1228362Not sure what you’re asking Mtoto.
Do you want the five horses? If so am only interested in the one race tomorrow, so can’t help.
Or do you want the answer to an accu question? As I’ve never done an accu in my life and never found out how to do them. So am not really the person to ask on that one either.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 4, 2016 at 02:21 #1228367Wasn’t me who asked the question but happy to try to answer it. If you have 5 horses in an ew acca then that will cost you two unit stakes – the win and the place parts of the bet. Alternatively you could place 5 x ew fourtimers (ABCD ABCE ABDE ACDE BCDE). This will cost you 10 unit stakes – 5 win 4timers and 5 place 4timers. This gives you some insurance if one horse does not win or placed. Also you could place 10 ew trebles (20 unit stakes) and/or doubles (20 unit stakes) with your 5 selections giving you added insurance if you only get 2 or 3 winners or placed. But large number of bets often result in long term losses as these are usually bets that bookies love to take as they make huge profit margins on them unless like GT you have a really good edge and you can find a string of selections that you feel are all overpriced and in your favour. January 4, 2016 at 13:23 #1228385Was me asking Ginge; looking at the horses I’d chosen to bet on today I realised that they were all trained by Denis Hogan so wanted to do an accumulator. I know about Lucky 15’s but there were 5 horses at the time. Now reduced to 4 with a NR and the first one has won. Feeling a bit sick now as didn’t do the accumulator [but have had a few doubles with them].He has a good strike rate at Musselburgh.
January 4, 2016 at 16:59 #1228400That’ll teach me to answer a question late at night; sorry Moehat.
I see Hogan had one winner, one place and one only just missed out on the place at Musselburgh. Unlucky.Sometimes wonder about accus on my main bets Mtoto, like to know how that would’ve worked out. But the long losing runs would mess with my confidence so I’ll give it a miss.
Monetary Fund a late non-runner, but Arctic Gold liked very soft ground, hadn’t had much racing, improving and worked out he’d probably get a soft lead. Only slight doubt going up slightly in trip. So one bet one win for me today. Had big doubts about the fav L’aigle Royal acting on the heavy ground and/or staying the trip (think the former did for him) plus always likely to be dropped out the back.

Value Is EverythingJanuary 4, 2016 at 17:30 #1228402Hey, putting out some really great tips, I was lucky to get on today’s 1:35 race at Ludlow, shame about Bangor tomorrow. Have you got a tipping service, or is everything that you advise upon within this thread?
January 4, 2016 at 17:56 #1228408Serves me right for placing my bets and asking for help in the early hours of the morning! Knew my fate when I listened to the last race on the radio and he was dropped right out, but at least I didn’t actually see him go down by a neck. Which is why, in general I don’t do accumulators!

Thanks Nthan,
This is the only place I give my tips. Keep promising myself to start a blog but never quite got round to it. Hope you make a few quid from these pages.Value Is EverythingJanuary 5, 2016 at 16:55 #12285162016 Gold Cup
