75 points @ Evens (FD) Al Ferof* (min 5/6)Haha love it Ginge Chris a non-runner
OMG!
Wish I hadn’t backed it now.
French Opera is bound to try and make a slow pace, hopefully Jacob will go on Ben.Just seen a half-saver was taken for French Holly @ 11/1 Now works out @ 6.42/1 (compared to 4/1 current price). So it works out that I have just short of 4/5 about a 1/4 shot, not bad "value"!

Value is indeed everything! I put Al Ferof (10/11) in two cheeky £5 accumulators last night with Bobs Worth/Sil Conti (Betfair chase), Champagne Fever (Arkle) and The New One (Champion Hurdle), both return £1000 so here’s hoping they do the business!
Good luck today.

75 points @ Evens (FD) Al Ferof* (min 5/6)Another tricky Saturday. What do make of Far West? Personally, I think he is more solid than Al Ferof at a slightly bigger price. The only little concern is that he isn’t already odds on. It was over a different trip but I don’t think Al Ferof travelled that well on previous run at Ascot. Perhaps he is better going the other way and Captain Chris is pretty useful on his day.
I guess the equation has changed now the Captain is out Stilvi. The right-handed question did occur to me, but I remember a friend of mine saying Al Ferof looked poor in the paddock when running in the Victor Chandler. Still a reasonable effort for a novice. Also had more on than the 4/11 price when winning Henry VIII by neck. I felt the amount he has in hand over Captain Chris is more than you would think considering the latter is a King George second. Am now more concerned about the pace. French Opera a natural front-runer, but has 2 mile speed, so in his best interests to make it a sprint.
As you can see now Stilvi, I don’t make Far West solid, probably did not need to improve much when second last time. That form gives him a favourites chance but imo he’s too short. Though imo better value than main rival Rolling Star, admittedly ran well first time up last term but disappointed afterwards including when well backed in Triumph. Those two make the other three value. Morning Royalty gets weight and improved last time, a little more will see him in the picture. And now 50/1 on betfair!! Runswick ran well last time.
Value Is EverythingNovember 23, 2013 at 12:58 #459517Well my 50/1 shot almost beat your favourite Stilvi.
Last and second last.
Free West didn’t run well at all, not over his Wincanton run?
Good to see Rolling Star back, wonder if he’s best fresh?Value Is EverythingNovember 23, 2013 at 13:22 #459522Well my 50/1 shot almost beat your favourite Stilvi.

Good to see Rolling Star back, wonder if he’s best fresh? It reminded me of one of those farcical Flat races where they go no pace leading to a false result and bookmakers celebrating their good fortune. Unfortunately, I see Scholfield as a very one-dimensional hold-up jockey. Far West is on all known evidence a strong stayer who jumps really well. Today the jockey took away those assets and the horse pulled too hard and was actually losing ground at his hurdles. In short it was an absolute disaster.

31 points @ 12/1 (Sky) Rocky Creek* (min 9/1)Worked the race out yesterday. Made Loch Ba a good bet @ 33/1. With most bookies 33/1 tried to be clever and wait for even better. Only for all the 33/1 to go today.
