Haven’t looked at the Commanwealth yet Nathan. Suppose we don’t know for sure if Mums Tipple is over the bad experience of Siskin kicking him in the Middle Park and soft ground may be another question mark having never raced on it. But I wouldn’t hold the 2000 Guineas against him at all. Ridden completely differently to his York victory. Hold up tactics clearly don’t suit.
Pierre who, Hollow?
Value is everything Colosus, depends entirely on what price they are on the day, but… Although Pinatubo might win a good race this year, am fairly confident we won’t see the kind of ratings performance we saw in Ireland or at Goodwood. He was a great two year old but is small and (with the 2000 fresh in the mind) most likely hasn’t trained on.
Ridenza certainly is a filly with potential / scope for improvement on her one run to date. But the fact she beat Peaceful in that maiden means fa tbh. Peaceful was 9th and has improved enormously since her debut and Ridenza needs to do the same if she’s to figure in the Irish Oaks. Worth keeping an eye on though.
Value Is EverythingJune 17, 2020 at 00:54 #1491006I want to be against Japan at the prices. His form isn’t as far in front of his rivals to be so short. 5/4… I wouldn’t back him at 7/4 tbh. Question whether a softer surface suits and needed first run at both 2 and 3yo. Others have better records fresh and proven on a softish surface. Almost just laid him to have all the others running for me, but some appealed more than others. Expected to be with Headman here; a horse I think will do well this year, but he too needed his first start badly last season and is usually held up. I wonder whether a prominent posi’ might be advantageous (no natural front runner). Not convinced Barney is as good as he was with Hannon and unlikely to be at the head of affairs at this trip. Bangkok doesn’t look good enough, stable aren’t in as good form now as they were a couple of weeks ago and is perhaps the unlikliest to front run. Japan himself is a 10 to 12f horse and as such a slowly run 10f would be against him, so is possible he’ll go to the front and make a reasonable pace. But if so will need to do something he hasn’t done before (which is also a negative albeit preferable to being mid div or held up). Expect him to at least track pace. Mehdaayih can go from the front or be held up. Made running in the Nassau (imo her best performance considering Frankie overdid the pace). Also impressive on a softish surface in Cheshire Oaks. Lord North is proven on practically any going and has front run… but that was further back in his form. Perhaps most likely for front running duties – looking at his Australian form – is Addeybb… And he’d love it if the heavens opened too.
Backed Addeybb and Mehdayih with saver on Lord North.
Value Is EverythingJune 17, 2020 at 01:13 #1491011Who’s Hollow ?
There’s only one Pierre at this meeting, Pierre Lapin.
I remeber you wrote quite positive about him last year..June 17, 2020 at 11:06 #1491042But as I know you you would probably say now: “Too short, no value anymore”..

June 27, 2020 at 21:30 #1492022I’m still here, Hein. Sorry my eye-sight isn’t the best. Had trouble getting on TRF when Royal Ascot was on. Now trying to get my house/garden together ready to sell.
See the TRF Lounge if you want to buy a house in beautiful countryside.
