Value Is EverythingApril 27, 2010 at 13:51 #292779Stan James 1000 Guineas
22 points @ 6/1 (SJ bog, nrnb)
Music Show
21 points @ 7/1 (SJ bog, nrnb)
Rumoush
(Could get 15/2 Rumoush elsewhere, but as Stan James are bog and nrnb have taken 7’s with them).
Favourite Special Duty was impressive in the Chieveley Park but in my opinion is only 50/50 to stay. Don’t knock her for the 3rd first time up as ground was against her and stable in poor form. Still not great either, though the ones she’s run (very few) have been outsiders. Goes well on a firm surface. Last year usually raced prominently, but it seems they’re likely to change tactics in an attempt to preserve stamina.
Seta comes from primarily a soft ground family, and disappointed slightly at Doncaster on a firm surface.
Music Show
was reportedly not ready (in coat and physique) in the Nell Gwyn. Won despite having difficulty getting a run. Won the Rockfell last year and should stay. Bred similarly to Fantastic Light. Goes well on a firm surface.
Rumoush
won impressively at Newmarket, showing an impressive turn of foot. From one of the best families in the stud book. Half sister to last year’s winner Ghanaati and Mawatheeq. With Nayef, Nashwan and Unfuwain others in this line. Encouraging she’s shown what she has so early, could well improve a good deal further. Family like a firm suface.
Value Is EverythingApril 28, 2010 at 16:26 #292962Golden Jubilee, Royal Ascot
9 points @ 25/1 (C) Delegator
With Goldicova seemingly penciled in for the Queen Anne. Rip Van Winkle choosing between Queen Anne and Prince Of Wales. Paco Boy a definate target at this stage. Can see other possibles looking for other races.
Delegator has always displayed good speed in races at a mile (barely stays) and may even improve back over 6f. Goes well on a firm surface. Connections like their best horses to run at Royal Ascot. Queen Anne route may be the supposed target at the moment, but I can see a change of mind. Think connections of top milers are more reticent of going back in trip for sprints; which is probably why top class British sprinters have been scarse in recent years.
At 25/1, worth taking a chance on.

Can’t see Canford Cliffs staying the Guineas trip so also in Golden Jubilee:
14 points @ 12/1 (C) Canford Cliffs

Never saw that TAPK, not copying, honest. Great minds think alike they say. Well not quite, RVW sprinting, yor avin a larf. Think he’ll be running in more races at 10f than 8f this year. Possibly Prince Of Wales instead of Queen Anne, dodging Goldi and Paco? It’s interesting Coral go 25/1 Delegator where as some are just 10’s. And 12/1 Canford with some at 7’s. Those prices themselves indicate some bookies odds compilers believe 25/1 and 12/1 are excellant value.

King Stand Stakes
9 points @ 25/1 (PP) Blue JackIn the Palace House Blue Jack was given more to do than the principles (not Kingscote’s fault as he’d always ridden that way). Finishing best of all. All the other principles of today’s race are much shorter in the betting, where as Blue Jack would be the one with possible further improvement. I’d refuse 14/1, but 25/1 is too big to ignore.
