I’ve been noticing Myplacelater’s excellent form and took note yesterday when she was given no chance, held up off a slow pace at Chester. Gertrude Bell has been cut to 16/1 for the Oaks, what chance the Elsworth team along with the owners will supplement Myplacelater? I’d fancy her to reverse that form and more – a strong pace and the Oaks trip would be ideal in my opinion. I think she would act at the track too. Any thoughts on this?

I don’t think she was given no chance – she didn’t get the run of the race, couldn’t get momentum until too late, and had to switch onto the rails at a vital moment.
One of those Chester Things.Having said which, I too think on balance that she would be likely to reverse the placings with Gertrude Bell at Epsom: though whether Mr Elsworth and his owners will shell out supplementary entry for what looks like minor place potential at best is another question.
As so often, the Cheshire Oaks was an absorbing trial. Another £20,000 on the prize money and G3 status, and it would reverse pecking order with the Musidora in my book.
