So after Cold Turkey, a virtual corpse on his runs this year who hasn’t beaten a rival in his last 3 starts, has been smashed off the boards all morning, we now get the news that his easy-to-back stablemate misses the race because he has been found to be lame. How do we know he’s lame? His trainer says so and has self-certified that to prove the case. Jemma Marshall was booked on Cold Turkey this morning, Ryan Moore on the horse that has been withdrawn. It will be interesting to note should a jockey change be announced.
Hopefully the BHA are monitoring this situation as someone is having a right larf at them.

Patrick Veitch relays the tale of a jockey’s punters stealing his price on BA Clubman in his new book. He was withdrawn before the race but Veitch doesn’t go into the ailment that befell him.
April 21, 2009 at 17:58 #222908To echo Kevin Keegan, I would love it, just love it, if we beat them!
But I won’t be betting on that possibility ……..
Especially as Cold Turkey is 23lbs better off with Salute than he would have been on January 1st.
April 21, 2009 at 18:49 #222910Ryan Moore now rides Cold Turkey

One may have thought that the BHA would have learnt a thing-or-two about the reliability of self-certification from the smell of burnt fingers emanating from the board rooms of Northern Crock and Bradford & Bungley
Though looking on the bright side and from the ‘inside’, at least it must save trainers a small fortune in the wining-and-dining expenses necessary to keep a friendly vet ‘onside’

JOCKEY CHANGE KEMPTON 5.20 10 Cold Turkey, R L Moore claims 7lb
April 21, 2009 at 20:27 #222920Came 3rd.
April 21, 2009 at 20:27 #222921He won’t lose his claim too quickly if he keeps riding like that!
Frankie rode a great race there – he’s a master from the front is Frankie.
