I’ve had a small bash on Valain in the hurdle today. Not hugely confident, as it’s very competitve, but he wouldn’t be too harshly treated off 121 today.
July 31, 2008 at 12:51 #175523Just to tell anyone punting here at Galway that there’s a serious band of rain imminent- the ground may well change before Hurdle time.
July 31, 2008 at 13:48 #175538because of weld’s form at festival if he thinks majestic concorde has a chance at 6/1 i will have some of that but it’s more hopefull than confident also think Eagles pass has a nice e/w chance!!
July 31, 2008 at 22:12 #175605Rounded out my ante-post portfolio on the 2 big races today with Ladbrokes, NRNB:
In the Plate I’ve backed Green Mile at 12/1, Oslot at 9/1 and Brave Right at 25/1. (first 2 a while ago)
In the Hurdle I like Cloone Rocket (16/1 NRNB, 20/1 all in) and Indian Pace at 20/1.
Paddy Power look to have taken a chance to me putting in Arc Bleu at 12/1 for the GPT tonight, for all that a drop of rain would help- these hustly-bustly races suit him well and he’s only 5lbs higher than at Newcastle.First time I can remember getting the Plate/Hurdle double up and extra satisfaction that I finally caught Ladbrokes on their ante post NRNB for a right few quid. How good does the Pierse Hurdle form look now?
Pity it was such a wet Ladies day and the race buses afterwards were nothing short of a disgrace but at that stage I didn’t care! Normally (pre no. 1 son) I’d be in the middle of the madness now, not studying for tomorrow- how times change! Another great festival, even if the figures were down a bit.July 31, 2008 at 22:59 #175608Great tipping as always carvills!
July 31, 2008 at 23:34 #175615I didn’t back Oslot at Galway, but well done tot hose that did – he scooted in!
And well done Carvs on getting Indian Pace – well backed on the day.

August 4, 2008 at 23:28 #176119Just to tell anyone who might be affected that Ladbrokes have withdrawn their NRNB concession in Irish shops on Irish ante post. I wasn’t aware of this until I went to collect my Galway bets- I was lucky that only 1 was an NR. If you read back my lays and plays thread, I predicted this wouldn’t last the year that they promised in January!
